Girl, 15, is arrested over alleged stabbing attack on her classmate as school is thrown into lockdown and teen, 16, is rushed to hospital

A regional New South Wales school has been locked down after a teenage student was stabbed on its grounds by another girl.

Emergency services rushed to Canobolas Rural Technology High School in Orange on Monday afternoon just after 1pm after a girl was allegedly attacked.

A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance confirmed a 16-year-old girl sustained stab wounds to the arms and chest.

A concerned parent of a Canobolas Rural Tech High student told the Daily Telegraph no carers had been informed of the incident. 

‘I’m quite upset, they didn’t even say anything, I had to find out from my son and (Facebook),’ the woman said.

She has been taken to Orange Health Service where she remains in a stable condition. 

Another girl, 15, has been arrested in relation to the stabbing and is currently assisting officers from the Central West Police District.

‘Multiple road crews and a medical team’ are currently attending the school on Icely Road, according to the spokesperson.

The school has been thrown into lockdown while the police attend.
