Three Australians are feared to have died in a horror plane crash after the missing aircraft went down in Queensland bushland. 

Emergency services are at the scene just outside of Lowood near Fernvale, northwest of Ipswich in the state’s southeast. 

The aircraft was reported missing after failing to return from a flight on Monday, police have confirmed.

A search was launched after the plane was confirmed to be overdue with police yet to reveal details about the aircraft, its flight plan or intended destination. 

The plane ran into bad weather before dropping, 9NEWS reports.

It was tracked leaving Roma in western Queensland on Monday morning before disappearing in the Somerset region.

Police have confirmed officers are at the scene in the Fernvale-Lowood area, but family members of the plane’s occupants are yet to be notified.

‘Investigations into the cause of the crash have commenced,’ a spokesperson said. 

It was reported the scene of the crash is so remote that police and paramedics were having difficulty reaching the occupants of the plane. 

A police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia there was ‘no confirmation at this stage’ if the people in the plane had died in the crash.
