The world reacts to Meghan Markle’s latest ‘truth bombs’ as she is called a ‘t*sser’ in Australia, the ‘Petulant Princess’ in US and accused of overshadowing Diana anniversary in Germany
Publications around the world have reacted to Meghan Markle’s latest bombshell interview, with one American publication dubbing her the ‘Petulant Princess’.
Others in Germany suggested the Duchess of Sussex was overshadowing the 25th anniversary of the death of Prince Harry’s mother Princess Diana tomorrow.
One TV broadcaster in Australia said Meghan was ‘a total t****r’ and she ‘couldn’t even stomach getting through the whole article’ published in The Cut yesterday.
A TV network in France said the Sussexes ‘continue to monetise the image of the royal family’, while an Italian publication said Meghan was ‘posing like a real diva’.
In the new interview, running to more than 6,000 words, Meghan said that ‘just by existing’ she and Harry were ‘upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy’.
It also comes after Meghan also made veiled criticism of royal aides in her new Spotify podcast released last week when she told of being forced to carry on with a royal tour of South Africa despite a fire breaking out in her son Archie’s room.
Here, read some of the global reaction to the article published in the past 24 hours:
The Duchess of Sussex has given a bombshell interview to The Cut – part of New York magazine
NEW YORK POST – MAUREEN CALLAHAN
‘Toddler and tiara: Meghan Markle STILL throwing tantrums about royal family’
- ‘Forget the People’s Princess — now we’re saddled with the Petulant Princess, one whose preferred crown is perpetual victimhood. For the past three years she’s had a global platform, yet all she does with it is complain that she’s been censored, silenced, shut out. Meghan Markle has been a public downer longer than she was a working duchess. It’s long past time for a new talking point.’
- ‘I must concede her lone accomplishment here: Just when you think Meghan Markle can’t get any more delusional, she outdoes herself. Her self-regard runs in direct opposition to her waning relevance.’
WASHINGTON POST – ALYSSA ROSENBERG
‘To succeed in media, Meghan Markle needs to leave royal trauma behind’
- ‘Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, fled one toxic dynamic in the United Kingdom only to land themselves in another here. The United States may be more psychologically open and socially progressive than the fading empire, but the more the pair talk about what they suffered in England, the more it seems that’s all Americans want to hear from them. In truth, the only way for the Sussexes to build a truly new life, and have a wider impact on the causes they care about, is to stop making themselves the center of the story.’
BILD (GERMANY) – GESA SCHWANKE
‘So shamelessly Meghan copies the Princess of Hearts’
- ’25 years ago they lost their beloved mother, but on the anniversary of Lady Di (36) Prince William (40) and Prince Harry (37) are probably not united on Wednesday.
- ‘The brothers’ break seems irreparable – fueled by tensions between William and his sister-in-law Meghan (41). More precisely: her shameless attempts to instrumentalize the myth of Diana for her career…
- ‘Meghan copies Di’s style, facial expressions, gestures – and even her charity generosity!’

STUTTGARTER NACHRICHTEN (GERMANY)
’25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death: Does Duchess Meghan overshadow the day of remembrance?’
- ‘On August 29th, two days before the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana ‘s (1961-1997) death, a new interview with daughter-in-law Duchess Meghan (41) appeared in a New York magazine. Some royal insiders fear that she could now overshadow the commemoration day for her husband Prince Harry ‘s mother (37).’

7 NEWS (AUSTRALIA) – NATALIE BARR
‘Sunrise host Natalie Barr brands Meghan Markle a ‘total t*****r’ in extraordinary spray’
- ‘I couldn’t even stomach getting through the whole article. I think an Australian would say ‘she’s just full of it’.
- ‘She’s a t****r. She’s a total t****r. That’s how we would describe her. I just can’t… The way she speaks.’

‘Meghan Markle fires the cannon from Lady Di’s hands: Racism in The Firm and an unscrupulous golden cage’
- ‘Meghan Markle takes another firm step forward. A week after uploading a preview of her official podcast for the first time , Prince Harry’s wife has been on the cover of the American magazine The Cut . An in-depth interview with a figure who has been in the eye of the hurricane for years, especially after his departure from the Royal Family. Coincidence or not, the launch of the interview takes place on the same day that the 25th anniversary of the tragic accident that ended the life of Diana of Wales is commemorated, with whom she has been compared on occasion for her time at The Firm’

CORRIERE DELLA SERA (ITALY) – FEDERICA BANDIRALI
‘Meghan Markle crowned The Duchess by the US magazine The Cut: the challenge to her sister-in-law Kate’
- ‘The photos show Meghan posing like a real diva: far from the real style (and life) from which she herself declared she wanted to detach herself. Meghan Markle’s style follows that of her sister-in-law Kate Middleton in the series of shots taken by Paolo Roversi for the 40th birthday of the Duchess of Cambridge.’

‘It takes a lot of effort to forgive’: Meghan Markle opens up about her relationship with the Royal Family
- ‘It’s hard not to see a slight reproach to his [Harry’s] family, if not a bitterness.’
- ‘At the end of this interview, the mother of Archie and Lilibet questions the notion of forgiveness. Without clearly revealing whether or not she has forgiven her beautiful family.’
- ‘She seems to still have things to reveal, a heavy weight on her heart just waiting to get out.’

‘Red Line – Harry and Meghan continue to monetise the image of the royal family’

In this extract, behind the scenes of the finances of the couple of Harry and Meghan is strongly criticised by public opinion.
