Tennis fans left outraged as 16-year-old star’s dad and coach grab her backside at the US Open

Tennis fans have left outraged by footage of 16-year-old starlet Sara Bejlek being groped by both her father and coach after qualifying for the US Open.

The Czech made her Grand Slam debut at the famous New York tournament on Monday, falling to a straight-sets defeat by Ludmilla Samsonova in the first round, but that match has been overshadowed by a controversial moment in the wake of her final qualifying win.

Bejlek beat Britain’s Heather Watson, and footage captured her shaking hands with her opponent at the net, before heading courtside to celebrate with her father Jaroslav Bejlek, and then her coach.

After the win, Bejlek celebrated with her father, who appeared to pat her on the backside 

Viewers were then outraged as the father then appeared to kiss his daughter on the lips

In the video, the teen approaches a man standing courtside, who has been identified as her father.

He pats her on the backside and appears to kiss her on the mouth.

She then walks over and hugs another man, identified her coach, who also pats her on the buttocks. 

Sports fans erupted over the footage, which has since gone viral. 

‘There’s absolutely no reason to touch a 16yo girl on her butt like that. It’s beyond inappropriate. As the video progressed it got worse and worse,’ wrote one user.

‘Creepy coaches. She’s 16,’ tweeted another accompanied by embarrassed and scared emojis.

After celebrating with her father, the young tennis star then moved along the line to her coach

He too grabbed her backside as the pair embraced, while her father continued to watch on

Some tennis fans want the incident investigated, while others have argued that it’s perfectly normal in some cultures

‘What the hell?? I need more people to see this and talk about his because they literally caught them in 4K how is this not being talked about???,’ stated a third.

Another Twitter user believed the video in question needed to be investigated by relevant authorities.

‘The WTA needs to look into these especially since these young girls are traveling w men from a very young age. also y’all can say its the dad or wtv but does your dad touch your bum like that.’

However, not all those reacting on social media condemned the act, with some pointing out that the incident only looks awkward to those with a Western perspective.

‘It is pretty common in Czechia. Not something I would do, but many men just don’t think about it in a sexual way. Google our Easter traditions, you might be shocked,’ said one user.

‘Perfectly normal in some cultures and households. One sees what they want to see,’ agreed another.
