PSV Einhoven ‘have NO intention’ of selling star man Cody Gakpo on deadline day

PSV Einhoven ‘have NO intention’ of selling star man Cody Gakpo on deadline day in blow to Southampton and Leeds… with bosses ‘keen to tie winger to a lucrative new contract’

  • Cody Gakpo has been generating plenty of interest across the Premier League
  • Southampton and Leeds both held interest but reportedly PSV are not selling
  • Bosses in Eindhoven reportedly want to see Gakpo pen a lucrative new contract

Leeds and Southampton’s hopes of a late swoop for Cody Gakpo have reportedly been all but ended as PSV Eindhoven decide to keep hold of their star man.

After Manchester United cooled their interest in the Dutch winger following the £85.5million acquisition of Antony from Ajax, Leeds and Southampton emerged as two alternative suitors.

But the Athletic report that PSV have now decided to keep hold of Gakpo this summer and they are determined to get him to sign a lucrative new contract at the club.

Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink added that Gakpo was expecting to board a flight to Leeds-Bradford airport on Thursday morning with six relatives and Leeds director Victor Orta.

Orta had been seen in Holland attempting to thrash out a deal but things look to have stalled and Elfrink details a ‘special twist’ saw all flight details deleted with the move reportedly off.

Gakpo’s stock elevated last season as he picked up an incredible 12 assists. He has three goals in four games already this season.

Despite being just 23, the Dutch international has already managed 43 goals in 146 games for PSV and won the Eredivisie.
