A Los Angeles Times columnist wrote Wednesday that Melania Trump deserved to feel ‘violated’ by the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago and ridiculed the former first lady’s sex life.
‘This is simply the price you pay when you are married to a sticky-handed former president who is unable to grasp the difference between things that belong to him and things that do not,’ wrote columnist Robin Abcarian.
The columnist mocked how anonymous Melania pals told Radar Online that the former first lady bought new underwear after hers was rummaged through, snarking at the quote: ‘This is her home … it’s her bedroom. Even her husband isn’t allowed in her bedroom.’
‘Well, then, where do they … ah, never mind,’ Abcarian wrote.
Abcarian portrayed the former first lady as ‘not a particularly sympathetic figure,’ pointing to the low poll numbers she received from a final CNN survey – the lowest of any modern FLOTUS since polling started during Pat Nixon’s tenure.

Even Hillary Clinton, who was by then running for Senate, left the White House with ratings 10 points higher.
That made her a target for the column headlined: ‘Melania Trump feels violated by the FBI search? Americans feel violated by her husband’s behavior.’
‘While it’s unsettling to have strangers paw through your closets and unmentionables, the unprecedented search of Melania’s bedroom and closets was legal,’ Abcarian argued.
The warrant, she pointed out, was for ‘all the rooms of Trump’s residence.’
‘Turns out you have to put up with the occasional search warrant in service of the occasional suspected felony. And the occasional besmirching of your panties by government hands, even gloved ones,’ Abcarian added.
Abcarian ridiculed the blind quotes given to Radar by Melania Trump’s friends.
A friend told the site that ‘Melania doesn’t like the idea of strangers going rifling through her things. Who knows who touched her underwear during the raid? She’s never going to feel comfortable wearing those ever again.’
As well as: ”Most people don’t know that Melania is a bigger germaphobe than her husband. She hates people touching her and certainly doesn’t want to put on lingerie that FBI agents have had their hands all over.’
Those friends told Radar that the former first lady had purchased new underthings.
‘But seriously, who besides some overly ardent members of the Trump base will get their knickers in a knot over agents touching the former first lady’s things?’ Abcarian wrote.
‘To borrow a phrase made famous by Melania herself, I really don’t care, do you?’ she added, quoting the former first lady’s infamous jacket she sported on a trip to visit migrant children who had been seperated from their parents due to a Trump-backed immigration order.
At the end of the column, which also details the developments surrounding the appointment of a special master, Abcarian reiterated that Melania Trump brought it on herself.
‘Melania Trump may have felt besmirched by the FBI rifling through her drawers. But the blame is squarely on her husband,’ she wrote.
Melania had told friends she felt ‘violated’ by the FBI search, while the ex-president expressed his disgust on Truth Social.
‘Just learned that agents went through the First Lady’s closets and rummaged through her clothing and personal items,’ Trump wrote.
The former president hasn’t responded to the column on Truth Social and a representative for Melania Trump did not return DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
But by Wednesday afternoon, Fox News had reported on the LA Times piece, as it was getting negative attention from Trump fans on Twitter.
