You may have heard the rumour that your sex life diminishes in old age.
But a new survey has quashed the troublesome myth.
One in five pensioners believe they have great sex lives – despite their age, a poll of 2,000 people showed.
The quiz, undertaken on British adults in their 50s, 60s and 70s, discovered they are not officially ‘over the hill’ until they turn 83.
Nearly a quarter confessed they still feel in their prime because they regularly attract attention from the opposite sex.
While one in five proudly admit to still having a great sex life, according to the quiz by over 50s life insurance brand FiftyLife.

And more than one in twenty of those adults polled revealed they are also frequent visitors of dating sites like Tinder.
Encouraging results
Matthew Gledhill, managing director of FiftyLife, said: ‘It’s encouraging that so many people either approaching or in retirement still feel so young.
‘Living life to the full and having a positive outlook on life is the key to being happy in old age.
‘It will be pleasing for so many over 50s that they aren’t considered officially old until they are approaching their mid-80s.’
Feeling like a teenager at heart
The research also revealed that many still felt they had a spring in their step with one in twenty saying they still feel like a teenager at heart.
Three quarters still consider themselves as young.
And as many as nine in ten respondents who were in their 60s and 70s consider themselves as not remotely ‘past it’.
The study showed 69 per cent said they still feel youthful because they have a positive outlook on life.
Some 58 per cent said as long as you can still drive you were not ‘past it’.
Nearly eight in ten said they were living life to the full or trying their best to, according to the poll.
Does health worsen in old age?
More than three quarters claim to be in good health – with around 10 per cent going as far as to say they’re as fit as a fiddle.
So much so that almost one in five insist on wearing a fitness tracker to ensure they get enough exercise each day.
The poll also showed 42 per cent had no intentions of slowing things down and a fifth said they wanted to grow old disgracefully.
And it would seem today’s over 50s are an online generation – almost half of those questioned (45 per cent) describe themselves as a ‘whizz’ at using the internet.
Only four per cent admitted to needing a bit of help to scour the web.
One in five of those questioned were regular visitors to Facebook and one in ten often use WhatsApp to communicate with family and friends.
