A fed-up customer has exploded at staff at a Brisbane diner after an employee allegedly made fun of his receding hairline.

Bec Hardgrave, a Queensland health coach, filmed the outburst at Karen’s Diner – a popular restaurant chain where staff pride themselves on their ‘rude service’.

‘Get this, they told this guy that he had a receding hairline, and this is what he did,’ Ms Hardgrave told her followers in a now-viral TikTok video.

‘What’s the one thing your f**king sign says? No body shaming!’ the man is heard yelling, while pointing to the house rules at the entrance.

The restaurant’s house rules state jokes can’t be racist, sexist or homophobic with ableist comments or slurs also forbidden.  It also advises body shaming and sexual harassment will not be tolerated.

Ms Hardgrave said while she was at the restaurant, staff threw cups at her table and told one of her friends she needed to ‘brush her hair’.

‘Me and my friends went to Karen’s Diner, and safe to say I probably won’t come back,’ she told her followers.

‘I know they’re paid to be mean to you, but it was a little too hectic. They were making offensive comments about people’s appearances.

‘They told my friend she needs to brush her hair, how mean is that. They told my other friend that she was too old and threw cups at us.’

The fitness coach said a staff member later asked a group of older women to leave the diner – for no apparent reason.

‘They said it over the microphone and had an alarm blaring,’ she said.

‘These ladies actually got up and left, I’m not sure if they paid or not.’

TikTok viewers were split over whether the alleged joke had been inappropriate.

‘You should all know the risks before entering. If you’re too soft, don’t eat there,’ one man wrote with over 15,000 people liking his comment.

‘Literally the guy at the end is in the right,’ another added.

‘Karen’s Diner needs to end, the whole thing is a mess. They break their own rules and boundaries and then act surprised when people are upset,’ another wrote.

‘Karen’s Diner kind of reminds me of the Stanford prison experiment – like it started off a funny little quirky thing and now the staff on a power trip,’ a third said.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Karen’s Diner for comment.
