Binge watching television isn’t only socially acceptable these days, it’s applauded, but Netflix has given a whole new title for those who fly through a series in just one day: the ‘binge racer.’
Netflix defined a binge racer as someone who will clear through an entire series within 24 hours of its premiere on the streaming platform, and according to the streaming network 8.4 million members have performed the feat while subscribed to the service.
However, some shows have more pull than others, and Netflix has revealed that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life pulled in the most global binge racers in its 24 hour debut.

Silver: Another reboot, Fuller House, followed the Stars Hollow-based series in second
The news isn’t at all surprising when you consider the show’s cult following and the fact that the reboot – which features many of the original stars, including lead actresses Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham – consists of just four episodes that clock in at just about an hour and a half each.
Additionally, the hype surrounding the release of the newly-rebooted series, which last aired an original episode on TV in May 2007, worked fans into such a frenzy that many admitted to watching the entire series within hours of its release.
In second place is another show which was given a recent reboot by Netflix – Fuller House.
Much like the Gilmore Girls reboot, the new iteration of Full House, a once-much-loved childhood sitcom, drew in huge audiences of people, both former fans and new viewers alike.
In Netflix’s ranking of its top 20 binge raced shows Marvel’s The Defenders placed in third while interestingly, it was anime series The Seven Deadly Sins which came in fourth place – a surprising appearance given that it is not often discussed as being an obviously popular choice among Netflix viewers.

Netflix pointed out its a bit easier to race through comedies like Master of None and Glow, but people are also taking on hour-long thrillers such as House of Cards and Stranger Things.
As for the streaming service’s top 20 binge racing countries, Canada came out on top followed by the United States, Denmark, Finland, and Norway in that order.
But while the U.S. didn’t take the top spot, there are still plenty of Americans who are incredibly dedicated to binge-racing.
According to Netflix, five members in the U.S. raced through all five seasons of House of Cards on the very same day they were released.
Given that each season consists of 13 hour-long episodes, that’s quite an impressive feat. Let’s hope they had plenty of popcorn…
