Jurgen Klopp was sent to the stands by Anthony Taylor after losing his cool with the officials following Mohamed Salah not being awarded a foul.

The Liverpool manager charged down the touchline and berated the officials after deeming Salah to have been fouled late on in the second half.

In a highly fraught and tense game, Taylor adjuged Klopp to have overstepped the mark and sent him to the stands following his berating of the referee and his team.

Taylor throughout had looked to let the game flow, allowing a number of collisions to pass which on another day could have been adjudged to be foul play.

Indeed, it was the intervention of VAR early on in the second half that prevented Manchester City from taking the lead after Taylor had deemed Erling Haaland’s pulling of Fabinho’s shirt not worthy of a foul.

Klopp, like everyone else in the ground, was sucked in by the fraught nature of the game and let the assistant referee know what he thought of the non-whistle the tackle on Salah.

Liverpool were looking to see out their 1-0 advantage with the team being pushed further and further back by City. The Egyptian Salah had the ball high up in City’s defensive third and looked to buy time before Bernardo Silva took him down.
