Queensland women strip off in nude photo shoot for cancer

Australia’s real-life ‘Calendar Girls’ are celebrating a decade of fundraising by stripping nude in the name of curing cancer.

The eight ladies, known as The Pink Belles, have posed stark naked in a racy calendar shoot which will raise money for cancer research.

Inspired by the 2003 Hollywood movie, the Sunshine Coast ladies decided to do something a little different this year to mark the 10th anniversary of their charity.

Following in the footsteps of Australia’s hottest firemen, the Pink Belles bared all in a fun and very intimate nude photo shoot .

‘The firemen have theirs but they go to the gym; this is all natural,’ Pink Belles member Corrina Vinke told Sunrise.

‘So we thought… let’s show the world what real women look like.’

The Pink Belles have raised nearly $100,000 in the past 10 years – their initiative beginning as a small ‘Girl’s Night’ in 2008 which raised $250 for their friend, Cynthia, who was diagnosed with cancer.

Appearing on Sunrise completely nude, the eight women had only a big pink sign to cover their modesty.

When asked what their husbands and families thought of their nude project, one woman admitted her sons were slightly ’embarrassed’ by her pursuit.

‘We’ve had a mixed situation with all the families, but my boys are a little bit embarrassed at times but I think they’re all pretty proud,’ Sandy O’Brien said.

According to the women, one naked photo shoot was more than enough and they won’t be doing a calendar for next year’s fundraising event.

The 2018 calendars are on sale now for $12 and can be purchased here.
