Alexander Restrepo, 33, died after suffering multiple stab wounds from an attack brought out by a group of men
A 33-year-old Florida man was stabbed to death when a physical fight turned fatal in the wee hours of the morning following a weekend rager.
The Miami-Dade Police Department confirmed that Alexander Restrepo, a bright and promising nuclear engineer, died Saturday after being left at the scene located on SW 147 Street and SW 157 Avenue in Miami.
Restrepo was born and resided in the Miami area, according to the ‘About Me’ section of his Facebook page.
He was employed at the Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station near Homestead at the time he tragically lost his life in the bloody attack.
Authorities are actively searching for the group of men said to be responsible for the senseless stabbing.
Miami-Dade Police Det. Argemis Colome said the young engineer was preparing to leave the party just moments before the onslaught broke out around 2:55 am.

Colome confirmed Restrepo had been ‘confronted by a group of guys’ who wanted to ‘exchange some words’ with him.
‘They keep walking a few houses down the street. Same individuals that confronted him at the exit, they get into another argument,’ the detective said, according to CBS Miami.
‘Now, it starts escalating … becomes physical, and at one point, he winds up getting stabbed.’
Authorities are asking locals for help in piecing together background information on deadly brawl, what a possible motive was and what individuals were involved.

It’s unclear whether or not the stabbing was premeditated and if the victim was formally invited to the party.
‘We do not know how it started (and) why it started. So that is what we are trying to find out,’ Colome added.
According to the local news outlet, as many as 50-60 individuals were in attendance to the party.
‘Somebody in one of their groups has to know more (about the incident),’ said Colome.

The police department released a flyer Tuesday morning seeking further information on the homicide.
‘Anyone with information regarding this homicide is requested to contact Miami-Dade Police Department Homicide Detective O. Manresa at (305) 471-2400,’ the flyer read, which was posted to the police department’s Facebook page.
