Texas mother arrested ‘for beating up teen girl at school’

A Texas mother has been arrested on an assault charge after she was seen in a video video beating up a teenage girl on a high school campus last week.

Corpus Christie Independent School District Police arrested Mary Alice Hernandez, 34, on a warrant for assault causing bodily injury stemming from the altercation that occurred in the courtyard of Miller High School on October 16.

The attack lasted about 15 seconds, with the teenage victim seemingly powerless to fight back as she was brutally pummeled about the head.

Julie Piñon wrote on Facebook it was her daughter who was beaten up in the footage and claimed the fight came about because the attacker’s own teenage daughter had fought Piñon’s child in the past, as Corpus Christi Caller Times first reported last week.

‘My daughter didn’t want to hit her because she didn’t want to disrespect her since she’s an older woman,’ Piñon wrote in a Facebook post that has since received 165,000 views.

In a follow-up post, Piñon sought to shed some light on the circumstances surrounding the fight, claiming that a male classmate of her daughter’s had spread a ‘disgusting rumor’ about her, and when the girl confronted him, the boy called Hernandez’s daughter asking her to come and beat her up.

The teen showed up at Miller High School with her mom, Mary Alice Herandez, in tow last Monday during volleyball practice, and the two girls came to blows.

According to Piñon’s Facebook update, her daughter ended up winning the fight, but Hernandez ‘apparently couldn’t handle the defeat and decided to attack my daughter.’

In the viral video of the brutal attack, a woman believed to be Hernandez is seen hitting Piñon’s daughter and grabbing her hair as she pulls her to the ground.

The student simply sits on the floor, attempting to protect her face with her hands from the blows raining down on her.
