Court testimony revealed on Wednesday that a teenager charged with killing his parents told a police dispatcher he ‘snapped’ on the night of the stabbings.
Andrew Balcer is in court in Augusta, where officials are deciding whether to try him as an adult.
He is is charged with double murder for stabbing Alice and Antonio Balcer to death in their Winthrop home last Halloween.
‘I took my Ka-Bar (knife) and drove it straight into my mother’s back,’ Balcer told the dispatcher after murdering his parents October 31, 2016.
‘My father came up because he heard her screams and I stabbed the f— out of him.’
A 12-minute 911 recording played for the judge in court included Andrew Balcer saying he stabbed his mother in the back before stabbing his father when he woke up from the screams.

Eighteen-year-old Balcer, who was 17 at the time of the stabbings, also said on the recording that he did not know why he did it, and that there had not recently been arguments with his parents.
‘There’s no helping them,’ he said on the tape.
Prosecutors filed a petition to have Balcer tried as an adult, but his attorney has pushed back, saying it’s not appropriate to treat Balcer as an adult.
If Balcer is charged as a juvenile, he could be held at a juvenile facility until the age of 21.
If prosecutors are successful, he could face 25 years to life in prison on each count as an adult.
In that case, Balcer faces the possibility of no parole.
The fatal stabbing took place inside the family’s house located in Winthrop, Wisconsin

Balcer has been held at Long Creek Youth Development Center, a juvenile detention center in South Portland, since soon after he was charged.
A police affidavit released earlier this year indicated Balcer told the dispatcher he stabbed his parents to death, along with a family dog.
Balcer’s older brother Chrisopther, who was 25 at the time, was not harmed during the deadly event.
A military-style knife was found stuck in the floor near his father’s body.

The superintendent of Winthrop High School, where Balcer attended school at the time, previously told Central Maine school he saw no ‘tell tale’ signs of violent behavior from him.
‘From what best I know, he was a very good kid, a very good student, an academically superior student,’ Gary Rosenthal told the newspaper.
‘There were (none) that I know of that would indicate there were any problems, and the family seemed to be well liked, and the mother was very personable.
‘It’s one of those dilemmas you shake your head at.’
Balcer’s parents were both 47 at the time of their deaths.
