A Florida woman who was trying to sell an iPhone through the online app OfferUp was shot in the head when she met up with the prospective buyer.
Broward Sheriff’s spokeswoman Gina Carter tells news outlets the injuries the unidentified woman suffered Sunday aren’t life-threatening. Detectives are trying to find the man.
Carter says the man asked the woman and her fiance to take him to an ATM. Security cameras captured the buyer walking inside a convenience store and pretending to use the ATM.
When he returned, the couple noted he was acting strangely.
The suspect is seen wearing a blue Puma tracksuit and has short hair
Carter says the buyer pulled out a gun and demanded both their phones. As they drove away, he fired a shot.
As the couple quickly drove away, the buyer fired a shot, striking the woman in the back of the head, Carter said.
The woman’s fiancé took her to University Hospital and Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries.
This isn’t the first time an OfferUp sale has gone wrong.
There have been at least three other cases this year where sellers have been robbed by buyers, and even killed.
This May, a father, 43, was killed after a buyer tried speeding off with the seller’s IPhone.

The father was dragged by the car and hit his head, being put on life support and dying three days later.
Detectives are now looking for the Puma tracksuit-wearing robber. He is about 5-feet 4-inches tall and has short dark hair.
