Anna Wintour makes thinly-veiled dig at Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been banned from the Met Gala, with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour (who personally vets each attendee of the glitzy soiree) swearing on television he will never be invited again.

The fashion industry icon, 67, made the revelation while playing a game called Spill Your Guts Or Fill Your Guts on James Corden’s Late Late Show last night.

Wintour and Corden, 39, sat at a table covered with unpalatable concoctions such as pickled pigs feet, a chili dog smoothie, bull penis, or fried butter. Each of them took turns having to answer either an embarrassing question, which involved dishing on one of their many famous friends, or eating one of the unappetizing dishes.

After Corden asked Wintour to rank designers Tom Ford, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs from best to worst. Wintour did put Tom Fort at the top, but gave up on ranking the other two and had to eat a bite of bacon-wrapped pizza as retaliation.

She pointed out she couldn’t even remember the last time she had eaten a regular pizza, and commented that the bacon-wrapped version, which she didn’t seem to enjoy much, was ‘covered in grease’.

‘I can’t believe you’re doing this,’ Corden said, to which Wintour replied: ‘Neither can I.’

When it was Wintour’s turn again, Corden slid the pickled pigs feet in front of her. Then, he asked: ‘You famously host the celebrated Met Gala that takes place in Manhattan each year. Celebrities from all walks of life are desperate to get a ticket. Anyone from Beyonce to George Clooney attends. So my question is: who would you never invite back to the Met Gala?’

Wintour waited for the excited crowd to quiet down until she replied assuredly: ‘Donald Trump.’

The answer prompted another round of cheers and claps from the audience and Corden himself.

While Wintour didn’t explicit say on the show why she would rather not see President Trump among the A-list event crowd, she has clearly opposed his politics.

Vogue endorsed Hillary Clinton, Trump’s opponent, during the presidential race last year.

‘We understand that Clinton has not always been a perfect candidate, yet her fierce intelligence and considerable experience are reflected in policies and positions that are clear, sound, and hopeful,’ the magazine wrote in an editorial, before praising the Democratic candidate’s positions on immigration reform, racial justice, LGBTQ rights, tax reform, guns, and women’s rights.

Wintour’s name didn’t appear on the article, but the editor-in-chief wore a Clinton 2016 T-shirt in February to Marc Jacobs’ New York Fashion Week show, and donned it again in October that year during a fundraiser for the presidential hopeful.

In the past years, he has also made 10 appearances on the exclusive red carpet with current First Lady Melania Trump, 39, most recently in 2012.

That puts the couple ahead of Rihanna, who has attended the event seven times, or Kim Kardashian, whose total comes to a comparatively meager five.

During her game with Corden, Wintour also addressed a long standing rumor that claims she once dated Bob Marley.

‘Fake news,’ she said, using one of Trump’s most cherished catchphrases. ‘I’ve never actually met Bob Marley.’

Corden appeared saddened but managed to recover from the shock by asking: ‘Had you met Bob Marley, would you have slept with him?’ to which Wintour replied without hesitation: ‘Absolutely.’
