Sober MAFS star slams disrespectful friends who pressured her into drinking alcohol at Christmas lunch: ‘I was met with so much hostility’

Married At First Sight star Connie Crayden has recalled the frustrating moment she was pressured into drinking alcohol on Christmas last year.

Connie, who found fame on the Channel Nine reality show in 2020, described the incident in a lengthy Instagram Story post on Christmas as she celebrated six months of sobriety.

The brunette began by explaining that she’s ‘really phased out alcohol’ from her life over the past two years.

She went on: ‘I remember last Christmas day on the way to lunch I made a comment that I think I would like to stay sober for the day, in response to that I was met with so much hostility. I was told I’m not showing respect, I’m selfish and ‘it’s f**king rude’.

‘As you can imagine I was so shocked that my decision to be sober could offend someone so much (still shocked today). Of course I felt pressured to drink and only a few drinks in I ended up with a pounding headache and that’s when it was ‘acceptable’ to start drinking water,’ Connie continued.

Now, a year later, Connie would have handled the situation very differently.

‘Now that I live a completely alcohol free lifestyle I wouldn’t have allowed myself to be treated like that and should have just left,’ she insisted.

‘Moving forward a year later this Christmas day will be exactly six months I’ve been alcohol free.’

The aspiring marine biologist completed her post with an uplifting message to others who have decided to cut out booze.
