Study reveals what the most attractive and sexiest men’s and women’s names in the world

The ‘sexiest’ male and female names in the world have been revealed – and some of them may surprise you

The sexiest men’s and women’s names in the world have been revealed in a new survey – and they’re surprisingly common. 

Jack was the sexiest name for men and Mary topped the list for the women while Nick, James and Ben, and Rachel, Kate and Julia weren’t far behind.

Researchers at Love Honey determined the saucy list based off the names of main characters who had audiences hot under the collar across hundreds of romantic movies and books.

Romance writers’ favoured the name Jack as the lead character’s name in nine novels and films including Jack Dawson played by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1997 hit movie Titanic. 

Mary was the the most popular protagonist moniker in romance stories such as About Time featuring Rachel McAdams whose real first name came in at number two. 

The old-fashioned name isn’t heavily represented among celebrities but the most notable figure is the ever-glamourous Princess Mary of Denmark who proves the moniker can be attractive.

Second on the men’s list is Nick, James and Ben while Peter and Joe ranked equal third. 

Famous people donning the sexy names include actors James Franco and Ben Affleck who have been considered heart-throbs throughout their career.

The name Sam just missed out on making the men’s top three like Patrick Swayze’s iconic character in the sexy movie Ghost from 1990. 

The study noted the most attractive men’s names contain vowel sounds at the front of the mouth however the opposite is true for women. 

A global study by Badoo found using shortened and abbreviated names can make a person more attractive. 

Behavioural psychologist and dating coach, Jo Hemmings who shorten her own name from Joanna, said people who go by abbreviated names are seen as more friendly and warm.

‘People with abbreviated names appear more approachable and friendlier; less intimidating. A diminutive name gives a sense of warmth and informality,’ she said.
