An Australian small business has been ‘overwhelmed’ with thousands of orders for its vitamin C serum since launching less than a year ago.
Kayla Houlihan, from Geelong, Victoria, is the proud owner of Tribe Skincare which released its $68 Brightening Vitamin C Serum to a host of eager fans in April 2022.
The young and ambitious beauty therapist decided to road-test the serum on her mum, 65, who had virtually never used skincare before.
After just eight weeks of using the serum her results were so impressive a post on Instagram she shared on her mother’s journey attracted over 500,000 views and the serum sold out twice.

With 50,000 subscribers on their mailing list, customers were eagerly awaiting for the serum to be back in stock with many placing preorders for the next batch.
‘Rather than packing it with pure vitamin C which can cause skin sensitivity, we use a combination of five per cent pure vitamin C and other natural, vitamin C rich ingredients,’ Kayla said.
‘Contained in an anti-inflammatory aloe vera base this serum is perfect for those with sensitive skin and helps brighten and even your skintone in just a few weeks, without any irritation.’
The product, which contains hydrating ingredients like niacinamide and antioxidants, is to be used first thing in the morning under your moisturiser to give customers an all-day glow.
The product made $13,000 in the first 12 hours of sale and continues to be one of Tribe’s best-sellers.

Kayla Houlihan founded cruelty-free brand Tribe Skincare almost five years ago, and has since seen her business enjoy a meteoric rise to the top, making a staggering $1.3million in 2020 alone.
Kayla previously told FEMAIL that she counts herself as lucky that during the global pandemic she has managed to continue in business:
‘I have seen a lot of businesses struggling with all the changes caused by Covid-19. Fortunately for e-commerce brands, online sales are thriving,’ she said.
‘A lot of people are choosing to stay home, even if they aren’t locked down.
‘We are in a very fortunate position to be able to take their orders online and send them directly to their front doors.’
