Chontel Duncan’s day on a plate

Meal one: Two slices of Vegemite toast with butter and cheese along with a macadamia milk latte and chocolate fudge protein shake

Meal two: Three corn thins topped with tzatziki, spinach, capsicum and slices baby tomatoes

Meal three: Tofu satay stir-fry with brown rice

Meal four: YoPro yoghurt

Meal five: Wholegrain chicken two-minute noodles

Meal six: Chocolate protein shake

Meal seven: Tofu cashew nut stir-fry with brown rice

Meal eight: Mars bar ice cream

The mum-of-five relies on a high-protein diet filled with complex carbohydrates and energy-dense meals to stay so lean.

However, she does not deny herself a little of what she loves and regularly enjoys a Mars Bar ice cream after dinner.

A typical day on Chontel’s plate sees her start with two slices of Vegemite toast with butter and cheese along with a macadamia milk latte and chocolate fudge protein shake.

She will then follow this with three corn thins topped with tzatziki, spinach, capsicum and sliced baby tomatoes, before a third meal of tofu satay stir-fry with brown rice.

Chontel snacks on a YoPro high protein yoghurt, before she goes for wholegrain chicken two-minute noodles, a chocolate protein shake and another meal of tofu cashew nut stir-fry with brown rice.

The 33-year-old rounds out the day with a small Mars bar ice cream.

On Instagram Chontel admitted she gets ‘bored quickly’ of eating the same food regularly, so her ‘day on a plate’ changes often.

‘Being a busy mama, I find nutrition is the first thing I sacrifice. I can easily forget to eat for the first half of the day, leaving me starving like a wild animal by the afternoon. Which then results in me consuming my entire body weight in food,’ Chontel wrote.

‘OR I am purchasing some high in sugar, processed food from the coffee drive-through.

‘My goal is to get back into a routine, prioritise my needs and fuel my body, especially while I am living off minimal sleep.’

Alongside her unusual diet approach, Chontel also does plenty of HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts.

HIIT workouts consist of short rounds of intense exercises lasting between 10 to 60 seconds of multiple repetitions.

Typical moves in her sequences involve weighted squats, lunges, high knees and burpees.

Chontel said she loves to work out, and tries to do it even when she doesn’t feel like it.

She said if you’re tired, angry or busy, while it might feel like a whole load of effort, as soon as you get started with your workout, you’ll feel ‘100 times better’.

Alongside her unusual diet approach, Chontel (pictured) also does between four and five HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts in any given week

She managed to do so despite suffering from Covid, a broken foot and severe sleep deprivation during the two-month period.

With assistance from the gym franchise Hiit Station, Chontel was able to get back into fitness and reach her goals.
