Jane Fonda, 85, looks glamorous in a structured jacquard gown at the annual Vienna Opera Ball

Jane Fonda put on a glamorous display as she attended the annual Vienna Opera Ball in Vienna, Austria on Thursday.

The legendary actress, 85, looked elegant in a structured jacquard gown that nipped in at her waist before falling to her ankle.

She teamed the stunning ivory number with a pair of metallic stiletto heels and carried a black velvet coat over her arm.

Jane accessorised with a pair of glitzy hooped earrings and carried a cream box clutch bag.

Her glossy grey hair was perfectly coiffed and she topped her sophisticated look off with a sweep of shimmering eyeshadow.

Jane is a big part of why working out and being physically fit became such a big part of pop culture and in a recent interview she detailed her reasons for working out.

The movie star launched the Jane Fonda Workout in 1979 and now, 44 years later, the Grace And Frankie star is still touting the benefits of breaking a sweat.

‘You have to be able to, you know, make love,’ she said at the opening of H&M’s Move Studio in Brooklyn on Wednesday. ‘I don’t remember much [about that], but do I remember you need flexibility!’

Last year, Fonda – who still does her iconic workout to this day – was named the face of the H&M Move campaign and four decades after she made leotards popular for suburban women, she’s still extolling the virtues of getting up and moving.

‘You’ve got to stay strong,’ she said. ‘I have a grandson who is three years old, and I can still pick him up.

‘I mean, I have to bend my knees and, you know, it takes a long time to get him up there, but I can still pick him up. You want to be able to carry your own bags.’

But the Barbarella star wasn’t always a fitness fanatic. In fact, she didn’t start working out until she was in her late 30s.

‘I didn’t know that it was important to do ’til I was in my 30s,’ the 80 for Brady actress said. ‘I had a ‘constant period’ all during school so that I couldn’t do gym — anything to get out of gym.’

‘It wasn’t until my late 30s [or] early 40s that I started to actually become active and life before I was active, it wasn’t nearly as good as when I started to move.’

And being flexible isn’t the only reason Fonda fell in love with physical fitness. She also found it helped her mood.

‘I come from a long line of really depressed people, and the best way to fight depression is to keep moving,’ she said.

The 9-to-5 star announced in December that the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma she was diagnosed with in September was in remission.

‘I won,’ she commented.

And in light of age and health, the On Golden Pond star now works out to be healthy, not skinny.

‘Wanting to be bone thin is not good. It’s not good for your health, and it’s not good for your mind to be that deprived,’ she said.
