King of the slopes! Felipe VI of Spain looks cool in ski gear as he takes a break from royal duties in the Pyrenees

King Felipe VI of Spain looked cool as ever this afternoon as he took to the piste on a short ski break away.

The Spanish monarch, 55, donned a navy blue ski jacket with red piping, along with matching salopettes.

He wore red ski boots and put safety first with a black helmet. The king also sported sunglasses and carried ski poles as he set off on the slopes.

The King was spotted skiing at the Spanish resort of Baqueira-Beret, in the Lleida region of the Pyrenees mountain range.

It is unclear if the father-of-two has been joined by his wife Queen Letizia, 50, and his daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, 17 and 15, on this trip, as he appeared to be skiing solo this afternoon.

Felipe looked like a natural on the slopes as he set off on his skis, and appeared relaxed on his break from royal duties.

The monarch’s trip comes as the Queen of Spain has stolen the show on her royal engagements this week, sporting chic outfits at royal engagements around Spain.

On Wednesday, the stylish royal wore a scarlet knit top and red leather trousers to attend a conference on gender-based violence in Madrid.

Meeting with representatives at the Zarzuela Palace, she looked like the perfect stateswoman with her understated-yet-elegant look as they tackled important issues.

She appeared out and about again the following day, sporting another stunning scarlet outfit, sporting a red leather jacket as she attended the Sorolla Through Light exhibition in Madrid.

The Queen layered the jacket on top of a black midi dress and matched with a red belt around her waist as she attended the event.

King Felipe joined his wife at the exhibition, himself looking dapper in a grey suit with a red tie – a somewhat more statesman-like look than his ski gear.

While the King enjoys fresh powder on the slopes, his mother, former Queen Sofía, has made the trip to Athens where she is paying tribute to her late brother, Felipe’s uncle, former King Constantine of Greece.

The former monarch, who was exiled from the country during the Second World War, died at the age of 82 on 10 January.

As is Greek Orthodox tradition, a service was held today in Athens to mark 40 days since he passed away, which is the end to the mourning period in the religion.
