Dallas Cowboys’ All-Pro Trevon Diggs ‘is sued by former landlord for up to $250,000 in relief over unpaid rent and property damage’

Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs has been sued by a former landlord for ‘up to’ $250,000 in relief over unpaid rent and property damage, according to a lawsuit obtained by WFAA.

The lawsuit claims Diggs was renting a house in Frisco, Texas and had a monthly rent payment of $5,500. Landlord Rose Marie Yadegar says she only received payment for the first month.

The landlord says Diggs owes $33,500 in past due rent plus late fees, $3,400 in repairs, as well as carpet cleaning and lawn maintenance fees.

According to the suit, Diggs vacated the property at the end of July 22 in lieu of eviction and Yadegar has not been able to fill the property. He is also responsible for the remaining two months of the lease as well, totaling $11,000. The suit states that Diggs previously agreed to pay attorney’s fees, according to the terms of the lease.

Diggs, the brother of Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon, has made more than $5 million over his first two NFL seasons.

Diggs’ attorney Scott Becker, filed a response to the complaint, generally denying each and every allegation in the suit and demanding for Yadegar to prove them.

Becker also stated that the suit came as ‘a bit of a surprise’ to Diggs.

‘This appears to stem from some misunderstanding or miscommunication going on with this rental property that ended sometime last year,’ Becker said.

‘He thought this matter was completely resolved. So, to have this situation arise out of the blue was a bit of a shock to him.’

‘We certainly feel badly for her if that’s the case that there’s damage to the property. My client didn’t cause that damage and we look forward to working it out with her.’

Becker went as far as to attribute that the circumstances to acquaintances of Diggs, rather than the cornerback himself, while also implying Diggs may be being targeted due to his success.

Last season, Diggs was named First-Team All-Pro after leading the NFL with 11 interceptions.

This season he ended the year with three interceptions, 59 tackles, and a fumble recovery.
