Entertainment reporter and podcaster Justin Hill reveals the WORST celebrity he’s ever interviewed

Justin Hill is one of Australia’s most beloved entertainment reporters.

Having interviewed well over 1000 celebrities over his 15-year career, the podcaster has explained that celebrities are not always approachable on the red carpet.

Speaking exclusively with Daily Mail Australia, Justin revealed the most difficult star he has ever had to work with was actor Mark Wahlberg.

Justin said he may have caught the A-list actor on a ‘bad day’ given his reputation as a nice guy in Hollywood.

Despite previously mentioning it in a Q and A last year, Justin still stands by his choice as it was a ‘major turning point’ in his career.

Entertainment reporter Justin Hill revealed to Daily Mail Australia the most difficult star he has ever had to work with

‘Before that [interview], I’ve just been really lucky where I’ve not really caught anyone on a bad day,’ he said.

‘I never go into anything wanting to upset anyone or wanting to make anyone feel uncomfortable. So, I think with Mark, I could have walked away and gone “Oh, he was the worst interview I’ve ever done”. That’s why I’ll say it was the most “difficult”.

‘Because when I thought about it, I was like, he has just flown in from LA. He was jet lagged. He had so much pressure on his shoulders to to get people to go and see that film.’

Justin said that the moment was more of a learning experience rather than a negative one.

‘My job from that point onwards was to make sure that I approached every interview with something that will – and I physically see this when I do this on red carpets – immediately make their shoulders go down and they just feel relaxed,’ he added.

‘Celebrities are just as nervous to talk to me as what I am to them. They have a lot of pressure on their shoulders and a lot of people around them a lot of responsibility.

‘Everyone thinks that it’s glamorous, and just photos taken and stuff like that, but it’s a lot of pressure.’

Among his favourite celebrities to chat with are Oscar winner Angelina Jolie and Aussie star Hugh Jackman.

‘I can’t even say how beautiful and gracious and generous she was with her time. She is a massive celebrity,’ he said of Jolie.

‘And Hugh Jackman, oh my God. He is like the nicest human that you will ever meet. And he remembers your name. He remembers the last time you spoke to him. He is like the utmost professional.’

‘Once, he slapped me on the bum. Which is also great,’ Justin joked.

More recently, the interviewer has chatted with big names like Margot Robbie, Chris Hemsworth and Paul Rudd.

‘Everyone’s conversation is important. But I think the ones that really stood out to me were probably conversations with our non-binary guests like Deni Todorovic and Etcetera Etcetera,’ he said.

‘This is something that is such an important conversation for younger people to hear. But equally important for older people to hear and understand.’
