Ex-Australian soldier who served in Afghanistan dies suddenly in Thailand as family and friends pay tribute: ‘A life of bravery and adventure’

A former Australian solider who served in Afghanistan has died suddenly aged 33.

Justin Christopher House passed away on February 2 in Bangkok, where he was living.

Originally from Adelaide, the soldier moved to Thailand  after serving in the ‘B’ Company in The London Regiment and The Queen’s Company Grenadier Guards in Afghanistan.

His cause of death has not been revealed.

Friends and family of Mr House asked for mourners to make a donation to Soldier On in lieu of flowers. The charity supports member of the Australian Defence Force.

His death notice describes him as a ‘beloved son of Julie and Chris (deceased)’ and a ‘brother to Henry and James’.

Loved ones have also taken to social media to pay tribute to the Australian.

‘Friend, no end!  You will forever be in my heart and memory. Love you always my friend,’ said one.

‘RIP Justin House. What a life! What a guy!’ said another.

‘RIP, my brother Justin House. You will forever be in my heart,’ commented a third.

One person explained how the ex-military man ‘lived life on his own terms’ and that his life was ‘full of bravery and adventure’.

‘You will forever be in my heart and memory,’ another friend wrote.

Australian defence forces first went to Afghanistan in 2001.  Currently, the military’s biggest international commitment remains in the country with 1,550 ADF personnel deployed as part of Operation Slipper.
