Frente! lead singer reveals the surprise real meaning behind the lyrics of their hit song Accidently Kelly Street

Frente! lead singer Angie Hart has revealed the real meaning behind the lyrics of the 90s indie-pop group’s hit song Accidently Kelly Street.

The band are celebrating 30 years of their record Marvin The Album, and have announced an anniversary tour across the country for the end of this year and 2024.

Appearing on Channel Nine’s This Morning on Thursday, Hart explained their  bop Accidently Kelly Street was written by bass player Tim Connor, who was moving into a home on Kenny Street- but he thought it was Kelly Street.

Asked why she thought the track is still such a hit, Hart said: ‘I think because it’s unashamedly positive, that’s one of the things about, its why we chose it in the first place.

‘Tim, our bass player, wrote it and he was having a particularly great time in his life moving into a house on Kenny street which he thought was Kelly street and he wrote a song about it.’

‘They are going to get the whole of Marvin The Album, which has grown from 15 tracks to 20 over the years and a bunch of things they love and we will take requests, it’ll just be a great and fun show,’ he said.

Speaking to Today Extra last November, Angie said her favourite song of all time is Ordinary Angels.

‘That one I hold very deeply in my heart,’ she said of the tune.

‘That song was written after an enormous argument and we wrote it in tears hating each other and came up with this song about being yourself.’
