TikTok dentist ranks the best and the worst dental products at Target

A dentist has revealed the best and worst teeth products you can purchase at Target to help you take control of your dental health. 

Dr. Joyce, from Orange County, California, frequently shares tips and tricks to her TikTok channel, where she boasts 341,000 followers, on how to get your teeth pearly white. 

Most recently, the dentist revealed her must have products for teeth whitening, her favorite mouthwashes, and the worst toothpastes. 

In a series of videos, the expert detailed the items you should reach for and the products you should leave on the shelf at Target.

‘A dentist rates teeth whitening products at Target from worst to best,’ Dr. Joyce has captioned the video. 

Her first pick off the shelves is the Arc teeth whitening pen.

‘Teeth whitening pens are an inefficient way to whiten with only three per cent hydrogen peroxide and mixes with saliva,’ the dentist said.

She then showed her other least favorite teeth whitening products, which included the Crest Optic White Pen and the Crest Whitening Emulsions.

‘Crest Emulsions [is] formulated to be gentle at 9.5 per cent Hydrogen Peroxide, but [it doesn’t] have the best contact time,’ Dr. Joyce added.

Dr. Joyce then showed the Crest 3D Whitening Strips with the LED light, explaining that consumers should not pay more for the light.

She captioned the clip: ‘Dentist rates mouthwashes at Target for bad breath from worst to best.’ 

This time, Dr. Joyce started by showing off the ‘best’ mouthwash. 

She said her favorite mouthwash was the TheraBeath Oral Rinse, which had ‘simple ingredients’ and ‘really works.’ 

Then, Dr. Joyce picked up the Smart Mouth Clinical Rinse. She explained it ‘works well,’ but is a little too much work because you have to mix it yourself.

She added that despite the acidity, the mouthwash had ‘no alcohol,’ so it was not the worst option. 

Lastly, Dr. Joyce revealed the ‘worst’ mouthwash at Target. 

The dentist said the Listerine Cool Mint mouthwash was her least favorite product. 

‘This mouthwash has nothing going for it. I would never buy it,’ Dr. Joyce explained.

Lastly, the dentist revealed which toothpastes you should avoid if you frequently get canker sores. 

‘Dentist makes list of toothpastes to avoid if [you are] prone to canker sores,’ she captioned the video. 

Dr. Joyce began by showing the Crest Pro-Health Advanced toothpaste. 

She said you should steer clear of this toothpaste because it contains ‘SLS.’ 

‘SLS is a harsh detergent that can irritate sensitive gums,’ she explained. 

She revealed that the Crest Gum Detoxify toothpaste also contained the harsh detergent.

Dr. Joyce added that you should avoid the Arm & Hammer Peroxicare toothpaste because it just makes people ‘feel clean’ by using SLS.

The dentist also revealed she didn’t like the Colgate Total, the Aquafresh and the Aim toothpaste.
