Company boss ‘humiliated’ by DJ Pat Sharp says she is suffering ‘shame and embarrassment’

An events company boss says she felt ‘sad, dirty and violated’ after being ‘humiliated’ by radio DJ Pat Sharp after he made a crude joke about her breasts at an awards bash.

Mr Sharp who was the celebrity guest host at the industry event, handed Lizzy Eaton a t-shirt with his face on it before joking about ‘getting on your t**s’ in front of 400 people.

He’s since been let go from his show on Greatest Hits Radio after the incident at the Conference News Agency Awards at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London.

Speaking out about her experience, Ms Eaton wrote on LinkedIn: ‘I was publicly humiliated in a sexual nature, by the celebrity host of an industry event, on stage in front of 400 of my colleagues and peers.

‘Afterwards I was in complete shock and hadn’t really processed what happened. Today I am struggling with it – I feel sad, dirty and, frankly, violated.

‘I have worked incredibly hard to earn my reputation and hopefully be an inspiration to other young women in the events industry.

‘Yesterday however, I was belittled, sexualised and objectified in front of hundreds of people I respect.’

The event organisers have since made an apology which Ms Eaton says she has accepted but she said the ‘shame and embarrassment I now feel will be with me for quite some time.’

A peer of Ms Eaton’s who attended the event is said to have ‘called out’ Mr Sharp for his lewd comment.

She later said to Ms Eaton on social media: ‘The message you sent walking off that stage, sent a message to so many of our peers and women; We neither have too and will not tolerate this.

‘You stood with such grace and dignity and handled an awful bloody moment with such admirable strength.’

Mr Sharp, the star of 1990s ITV children’s game show Fun House, has hosted a show on Greatest Hits Radio since 2019.

'That's the only way I'll get on your t**ts today,' Sharp said after giving Ms Eaton a t-shirt with an old photo of him sporting his trademark '90s mullet

He said his contract was due to expire at the end of this month but he will not ‘not return to the station with immediate effect’.

The incident took place last Friday at the Conference News Agency Awards, which celebrates the work of events organisers.

While presenting at show, Mr Sharp gave Ms Eaton a t-shirt adorned with an old photo of him sporting his trademark ’90s mullet captioned: ‘Pat Sharp – AS SEEN ON FUN HOUSE – LOOKING SHARP SINCE 1982’.

The former I’m A Celebrity star then remarked: ‘That’s the only way I’ll get on your t**ts today.’

Ms Eaton, who has been working in events management for more than a decade, then threw the t-shirt at Mr Sharp and walked off the stage in tears, the Sun reported.

The DJ has since made an apology, saying: ‘Last Friday, I made a joke on stage which was not well received. I upset one individual in particular and for that I am truly sorry.

‘I apologised at the event to anyone who was offended and I have apologised to the individual personally too.’

MashMedia, who organised the event, said in a statement: “Conference News disavows the statement made by Pat Sharp.

‘It was unscripted and does not represent the ideals that we want to promote as a business.

‘We’re doing our part to support the affected delegate in the aftermath and have requested both a public and private apology from Sharp.”

A graduate of the University of Greenwich, Ms Eaton works primarily with organisations wanting to use events for campaigns or to lobby politicians, according to an online bio.

She’s previously worked at events specialist Informa Group and PR firm Portland Communications.

The companies she has organised events for include Apple, Google, Facebook and McDonalds.
