A British expat has listed the three things she will ‘never do again’ while in Australia.
Jordana Grace, who now lives in Queensland, has become known for sharing videos about differences she’s noticed since moving Down Under.
The radio host said she won’t use an iconic beachside barbecue without cleaning it first and will always wear sunscreen when going out at midday.
She also promised to ‘never forget’ to celebrate Christmas in July with a ‘proper roast dinner’.
Jordana’s words of wisdom were shared in a TikTok video watched more than 150,000 times – and hundreds couldn’t help but agree with her.
British woman Jordana Grace (pictured) has been living in Queensland for the last few years. Now she’s listed what she’ll ‘never do again’ while Down Under
Jordana said she won’t use an iconic beachside barbecue without cleaning it first and always wear sunscreen when going out at midday. She also promised to celebrate Christmas in July
‘One of my favourite things about Australia is that they have all these free barbecue areas around – which is amazing,’ she said in the video
‘But so many people have told me that people use these as lavatories at night.
‘So, never use these bare, make sure you clean them and then put tinfoil down.’
Previously Jordana made pancakes using the free-to-use barbecue, only to be told the rumour that people urinate on the cooking equipment – leaving her completely horrified.
Having been burnt by the harsh Aussie sun before, Jordana said she will ‘never ever again go out in the midday sun’ unless she ‘slip-slap-slops’.
‘I live in Queensland where it gets super hot, and British me would just go out in the midday sun and not even think about it – no hat, no sunscreen, nothing!’ she recalled.
‘But now I either go out in the early morning or early evening, or if I do go out in the midday sun I always make sure I slip-slap-slop.’
Lastly Jordana said she’ll always celebrate Christmas in July during Australia’s winter season.
‘I know this sounds crazy but from now on, I’m always gonna celebrate Christmas in July so I can have a proper roast dinner and feel cold at the same time,’ she said.
Hundreds on TikTok quickly flooded the comments and reassured Jordana that ‘BBQs are not used as toilets’.
‘Urban myth on the bbqs being used as a loo, there are free toilets everywhere,’ one wrote.
Another said: ‘Whoever told you people urinate on BBQs is pulling your leg … Still not a bad idea to use tin foil.’
‘You can get reusable bbq mats to save on rubbish,’ a third recommended.
Others mocked the expat for saying ‘slip slap slop’ when referring to wearing sun protection rather than ‘slip slop slap’.
