Frock on! Cheltenham Ladies Day racegoers bring the glam- despite new ‘inclusive’ casual dress code

Cheltenham Festival may have scrapped their strict dress code for the first time in their 200 year history – but that hasn’t stopped stylish racegoers bringing all the glamour to Ladies Day.

The historic society event, which dates back to the early 19th century, has unveiled a new ‘inclusive’ dress code this year, which organisers hope will make spectators feel ‘confident and at-ease’ for their visit.

But despite dresses, heels and hats no longer being mandatory, glamourous guests still opted to pull out all the fashion stops for the annual event.

Posing for a group photo as they arrived, one chic group of women braved the cold in cropped jackets and hats as they entered the races.

Wearing an emerald green hat adorned with peacock feathers, one especially glamorous spectator looked perfectly put together in a green velvet jumpsuit.

Meanwhile, another opted for black velvet flared trousers which she styled with a brown fur jacket and string of pearls.

What’s more, a third donned a pair of brown knee-high boots with her chic camel coat while the final member of the party looked sophisticated in a black-and-white striped midi dress.

Fully embracing the festivities, a particularly stylish duo went all out with faux fur as they arrived at the races this morning.

Wearing a green cord midi dress, a beaming racegoer was pictured with a small brown fascinator in her hair with a single vibrant peacock feather.

Her companion also looked suitably smart in a pastel blue coat which perfectly matched her floral navy hat.

She finished off her ensemble with a dark blue dur scarf, leather gloves and a Mulberry bag.

That said, Carol Voderman embraced the more relaxed dress code as she arrived at the races wearing a tweed jacket coat with a fur lining, brown trousers and suede knee high boots.

Another racegoer stunned in a black mini skirt, which she paired with a trendy matching waistcoat.

Completing her tailored look, the woman wore an oversized blazer, sunglasses and a black-and-white fur bag as she pulled a peace sign for the cameras.

Guests didn’t let the lacklustre weather conditions dampen their outfits either – with one duo rocking hot pink coats and another glam spectator opting for a bright yellow dress and fascinator.

Later today, the Queen Consort will attend the festivities – after Zara and Mike Tindall attended the races yesterday.

Ahead of the first races this morning, Big Brother’s Josie Gibson arrived at the grounds wearing a smart brown trenchcoat and fedora.

Meanwhile, Love Island’s Chris Hughes looked suitably smart in a three-piece suit – complete with a tweed waistcoat.

Already much more relaxed than its racing peer Royal Ascot, Cheltenham organisers are hoping to encourage a younger crowd to the society event, with jeans and trainers no longer looked down upon, and ‘come dressed to feel your best’ guidance in place.
