Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham attend special season three screening

Coinciding with the season three premiere of Ted Lasso, many of the cast and crew were on hand for a special screening at Walter Reade Theatre in New York City on Wednesday.

The hit show’s two leading stars – Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham – led the troupe along the red carpet ahead of a Q&A session with fans and journalists.

The Variety and Apple TV+ event also included the likes of Phil Dunster, Kola Bokinni, Cristo Fernandez, Jeremy Swift, Toheeb Jimoh and co-creator Brendan Hunt, who shared their experience on the show with Variety’s Jenelle Riley.

Sudeikis – who plays the series’ titular character – flashed a laidback smile for photographers while rocking a sporty track jacket and tapered blue pants.

The SNL alum is also an executive producer and credited as one of the series’ developers.

The Fairfax, Virginia accessorized with a matching brown newsboy hat.

Rounding out his look for the promotional event, the actor threw on a pair of white and blue sneakers.

Waddingham, 48, stood out as she posed up a storm in a busty yellow satin blouse tucked into a pair of fitted bubblegum pink trousers.

The London, England native stood on pink heels and wore her blonde hair in a voluminous low ponytail.

She accessorized with sparkly gold hoop earrings as well as several gold bands on her fingers.

As for makeup, Waddingham’s piercing blue eyes were framed with black eyeliner and her pout was painted a glossy pink. 

The sports comedy-drama also stars Brett Goldstein, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, Sarah Niles, Anthony Head, Billy Harris and James Lance, among many other actors with recurring roles.

The series, developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, has been a bonafide hit with viewers and critics since it premiered back on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020.

The first season premiere episode went on to become Apple TV+’s most watched premiere, and it ranked 89th overall among other television series or shows measured across streaming platforms from November 1, 2019, to July 18, 2021.

Season one also scored big during awards season, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy Award history with 20.

It went on to to win seven Primetime Emmys out of those 20 nominations during the ceremony in May 2021, including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting awards for Sudeikis, Goldstein and Waddingham.

For season two, it won four Primetime Emmy Awards out of 20 more nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series, acting awards for Sudeikis and Goldstein, and a directing award for MJ Delaney.

Over the second season premiere weekend, Apple TV+ expanded its number of new viewers by 50% week over week, which led to the show increasing its ‘viewership by six times over season one.’

Season three premiered on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, March 15.

In the latest season, the newly-promoted AFC Richmond faces ridicule as media predictions widely peg them as last in the Premier League, while Nate (Nick Mohammed), who’s now dubbed the ‘wonder kid’, has gone to work for Rupert (Anthony Head) at West Ham United, according to RedCarpetReporttv.com.

In the wake of Nate’s contentious departure from Richmond, Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) steps up as assistant coach, alongside Beard (Brendan Hunt). 

Season three consists of 12 episodes and will air its finale on May 31.
