Pensioner’s horror after neighbour and his wife had sex on a bollard in parking row

A pensioner whose neighbour had sex on a bollard amid a row over parking has spoken for the first time about the ordeal.

Wendie Bryant, 68, today waived her right to anonymity to speak about her extraordinary feud with Lee Craig McConnell at their cul-de-sac in Blandford Forum, Dorset.

Mrs Bryant revealed how she had a string of arguments with him over parking which culminated in him masturbating outside the front of her house before calling his wife Danielle over and having sex on top of her bollard.

Reliving the shocking incident, Mrs Bryant told MailOnline: ‘He was stark naked doing ”that” then he called his wife over, she was wearing a shawl, and he bent her over the bollard.’

And she blasted columnist Giles Coren for making jokes about the case which left her traumatised.

Wendie Bryant and her husband Colin installed a bollard in a parking space outside their home in Blandford Forum, Dorset, to stop their neighbour Lee Craig McConnell from parking there

Mrs Bryant, a retired international food trader, revealed that an hour before the sex act last October her husband Colin, 70, had been rushed to hospital with health complications from an earlier stroke – leaving her home alone.

She said: ‘It’s been traumatic. I can’t understand how anybody can do this. Colin had gone off in an ambulance at 10pm the same night and an hour later they were out there doing it in my parking space.

‘At court he said he didn’t know he was being filmed but he was gesturing at the camera throughout so I think he knew.

‘He knew I was alone in the house.

‘I still can’t get my head around it. I keep wondering how the hell did it go this far when all I asked is for him not to park in my parking space.’

Mrs Bryant said she only discovered what had happened when she checked her CCTV cameras in the morning.

She said: ‘I was completely disgusted and so angry when I saw the footage, I just thought ”these people have to be stopped”.

‘I gave the police a copy then deleted it. I was so disgusted I didn’t want to keep that footage anywhere.’

McConnell, 28, was arrested. At court earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to indecent exposure.

The row started in May 2022 when McConnell started parking his Volkswagen camper van in Wendie and Colin’s parking space which – due to the layout of the cul-de-sac – was outside his house.

After asking several times not to park there she installed a lockable bollard which was damaged on several occasions, leading her to install a CCTV camera in September.

She said: ‘I don’t know why this happened. I’ve always been very pleasant towards them.

‘Colin was in hospital for 10 weeks from May and the day he came out they were parked there, he turned to me and said ‘they could have waited for me to die to take my parking space’.

‘It might seem to people that it’s 7ft of tarmac but it’s my 7ft of tarmac.

‘I actually feel guilty it went this far but he pushed me all the way. He pushed me to install the bollard, he pushed me to put up the camera and he pushed me to call the police.

‘I don’t know why he dislikes me. So maybe it’s just because I stood up to him.’

Retired property surveyor Colin has lived in the home for 20 years while former international food trader Wendie moved in 10 years ago. They say there have never been issues with parking before but the rows started within a year of the couple arriving.

At court McConnell said since the incident he has put his house up for sale and was ordered not to have any contact with Wendie.

Wendie said: ‘He has a no contact order which doesn’t stop him living near me. I can’t stop him going to the supermarket at the same time as me or walking to his car as I’m crossing the close.

‘I really don’t know why I am not frightened of the guy because he’s a fairly big bloke, he’s ex-army, and I’ve got fibromyalgia, a dicky ticker and a pacemaker. So if he wanted to hurt me, you could easily do it.

‘But I worked in the City for 10 years in the 1980s, I understand bullies and bullying. I’ve seen it all before and this man doesn’t intimidate me.’

The court case was reported in the UK and across the world but Wendie says she was driven to tell her side of the story after the row was mocked by columnist Coren.

Coren wrote: ‘You’ve got to say, hats off to the pair of them. I can’t even persuade my wife to do it with me at home, in bed, in the dark, in the newly redecorated bedroom suite I’ve just spent thousands of pounds on. And yet Lee Craig McConnell only has to grumble that next door have blocked his parking space again and his missus is straddling him outdoors, over a cold bollard in Blandford Forum.’

But Wendie said: ‘It may be funny to Coren but he belittled what we had to go through and made us into a joke. Coren said hats off to them for breaking the law. I hope he’s proud of himself.’

McConnell will be sentenced at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on April 27. His wife was not charged in relation to the incident after writing a letter of apology to the neighbours.
