A woman has revealed she was dress-coded at the gym because she was wearing leggings that made other women ‘uncomfortable.’

Kerry Rose Schwartz , 37, from California, took to TikTok to detail her experience going to an all-women’s fitness center, claiming that she was shamed for her workout attire. 

The content creator said that she was sporting body-shaping leggings when the owner of the gym asked to have a ‘quick chat.’ 

She lamented about the situation to her over 153,000 followers and begged for their advice as she revealed she was told she made other fitness fanatics ‘offended.’

‘I was shamed at the gym for my dress code,’ she captioned the video.

‘I could sense that something was wrong because the conversation got uncomfortable really quickly,’ Kelly said, referencing the conversation the manager asked to have.

‘They said, “I’m really sorry we have to have this conversation but apparently you’re making a few women feel uncomfortable with the leggings that you’re wearing,”‘ she recalled of the chat with the owner.

Kerry explained that she was initially ‘confused,’ ‘shocked’ and felt embarrassed following the talk. 

 ‘I almost felt shame even though I shouldn’t,’ she said before adding that the gym should be a ‘safe space’ with ‘no judgement.’ 

‘I wasn’t wearing anything inappropriate,’ she said.

 The content creator also noted that she had often struggled with body image issues and confidence in her past. 

‘I struggled with body dysmorphia and feeling comfortable in gyms my entire life,’ she explained noting that it was hard for her to find a fitness center she wasn’t uneasy in.

‘And when I found a gym that I felt comfortable in that I really enjoyed, it changed my life,’ Kerry added. 

She then called the experience that saw her being shamed while trying to get her sweat on ‘really disappointing.’ 

Kerry said that the event that saw her getting called out for figure hugging pants caused her to never want to go back to the gym. 

‘They actually said something to me that made me so uncomfortable that I never wanted to go back there again,’ she said.

And the content creator continued to lament, noting that she could understand if she was donning ‘a thong,’ but couldn’t fathom why the workout pants would be unsuitable.  

‘I don’t think there is anything wrong with this. Why am I being shamed? Especially for a women’s gym,’ she added.
