Op shoppers confused by suspicious buy in the kitchen section before figuring out what it really is: ‘That is NOT coming home with me’
- A woman was shocked to find a feminine hygiene item clubbed in with cookware
- The device was mistaken for a funnel at a local Australian op shop
A woman was casually browsing the kitchenware section of her local op shop when she found a suspicious ware.
Lurking next to the plates, baking dishes, and mugs – a silicone ‘funnel’ was found for a mere $1.99.
The Australian woman was shocked when she finally realised what the item is used for, and it has nothing to do with food preparation.
Usually between $20-$35, the item turned out to be a female urinating device (colloquially a ‘Shewee’) mistaken for a cake decorator.
Women typically use the device while camping or if a medical condition makes it difficult to use the bathroom while sitting down or squatting.

Many were pleasantly surprised to see the handy gadget out in the wild, and shared positive experiences using the feminine hygiene item.
‘They’re very helpful in many situations,’ an old lady said. ‘I hurt my hip and had trouble sitting on the [toilet], so I got one of these.’
‘I had one for camping, it’s very handy in the woods. You don’t have to be constantly looking around to see if any creepy crawlies are trying to ambush you whilst squatting.’
‘So useful, and a great price. But takes a bit of training to be able to pee standing up after decades of sitting down.’
A mum even admitted to used them for her child.
‘They sell these for toddlers for when you’re out and about and there’s no where for them to go!’ she revealed. ‘I just bought one for my 18-month-old.’
But some weren’t as convinced by the product’s practicality.
‘I tried one once and got my pants wet,’ a woman wrote. ‘It was so embarrassing!’
‘The over flow is real. I took one camping – it was a fail. That hole at the bottom is not big enough. I feel like a regular old funnel would have been better.’
‘I was given one for when I went backpacking. I used it a couple of times but couldn’t cope with carrying it around with me afterwards, so got rid of it.’

Others use the feminine hygiene item for other purposes.
‘I find it to be an excellent funnel! I love it because it’s so flexible – in fact, I went out and bought a third for fuel. They are easy to store and don’t take up much room.’
‘I’ve got one that we put gravy in, it’s so convenient to pour over the mashed potatoes.’
‘My kid just uses one as a bath toy – it’s great for shampooing his head.’
