Racing royalty Kate Waterhouse looks chic in a cream minidress as she leads celebrity arrivals at The Star Championships alongside Nicole Kidman’s niece Lucia Hawley
Kate Waterhouse made her obligatory appearance during The Star Championships races at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Saturday.
The racing royalty, who boats horse trainer Gai Waterhouse as her mother, took a modern and chic spin on the typical, extravagant race-wear.
Garbed in a form-fitting white dress with long sleeves and a frilled hem which showed off her slim pins, the journalist, 39, slipped into black polka dot stockings.
Tottering around on sky-high platform heels, she traded a traditional fascinator for a wide-brimmed fedora which sat atop her softly curled blonde tresses.
Kate finished her look with some simple statement jewellery as she flaunted her natural beauty with barely a lick of makeup in sight.

Nicole Kidman’s niece Lucia Hawley also made an appearance, on the arm of her boyfriend, wearing a classic black dress with a unique sweetheart neckline.
With a racy cutout across her chest, the red carpet reporter for Live from E!, 25, paired the classy mid-calf gown with satin gloves which sat up over her elbows.
‘My motto is a little bit of less is more, but when it comes to race day fashion, it’s like you just want to throw yourself into it and it’s fun because everyone does that,’ Lucia told the Daily Telegraph on Saturday.

She added: ‘It’s something that’s quite unique to us as Australians. You have so much to play with, you have all the accessories in really bold colours and the fascinators, and it’s a really fun way to let your personality shine through your outfit.’
Elsewhere, Scott Tweedie stepped out on the ‘red’ carpet wearing a very smart double breasted blazer with black trim over grey.
Recently back in Australia after moving to the U.S to work for E! Network, he paired his jacket with simple black slacks and a white shirt clasped at the neck with a tie.
The Australian Idol host, 35, polished the ensemble off with a designer watch, white pocket square, and shiny black dress shoes as he slicked his dark locks back.
