Wolves winger Daniel Podence had a lucky escape against Nottingham Forest after appearing to spit in the direction of Brennan Johnson but not being sent off for it.
The Premier League encounter ended 1-1 at the City Ground, after Podence scored a late equaliser to cancel out Johnson’s first-half strike.
And the two forward’s ended up clashing in an on-pitch scuffle late into the match, where the Portugal winger looked as though he spat at his Welsh counterpart.
The clash was initially sparked following a challenge between Diego Costa and Cheikhou Kouyate, before both of the attackers got involved.
As tensions boiled over, Podence appeared to spit in the direction of Johnson, which led the Forest forward to immediately appeal to referee Chris Kavanagh.

Tempers flared late in the match after both of the forward’s had got on the scoresheet
VAR immediately checked the incident but ruled that there no further action should be taken against the 27-year-old.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Johnson appeared to have moved on from the incident and seemed to suggest that it ‘didn’t happen’.
He said: ‘I think it’s just emotions. I can’t remember it too clearly. I don’t want to talk too much on it to be honest.
When pressed if Podence spat at him, Johnson then said: ‘I saw a similar kind of motion come from him but at the end of the day, it didn’t happen. They had a look at it and it didn’t happen.’
Both men had already made their marks on the match prior to the incident occurring in added time, with Johnson scoring the first goal of the match.
The Wales international tucked the ball into the bottom corner of the goal from a tight angle to give Steve Cooper’s side the lead in the match.
It looked as though the hosts may have been heading for the win before Podence popped up with a goal in the final ten minutes of the match.
The result leaves the two sides 13th and 14th in the league table, with the visitors ahead by one point.
