Groovy, man! The six ’70’s-inspired fashions back in style thanks to Daisy Jones

‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ is a musical-drama series streaming on Amazon Prime about the rise and fall of a fictional rock band in the 1970’s.

The story is based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

And while the consensus is that the book is always better than the movie, Daisy Jones & The Six is worth watching for the fashion alone! DailyMail.com reveals the six must-have spring fashions inspired by the series.

‘Daisy Jones & The Six’ is a musical-drama series streaming on Amazon Prime about the rise and fall of a fictional rock band in the 1970’s.

Daisy Jones & The Six costume designer, Denise Wingate, brought the book’s characters to life by building an enviable wardrobe for each cast member.

From Daisy’s beautiful, bohemian ensembles to Billy Dunne’s cool rockstar aesthetic, the costumes embody the spirit of the time — and we can’t get enough!

Whether it’s the sense of nostalgia inspiring people to bring back trends of the past or the way the beloved characters make them look so good, ’70s styles are back!

And fortunately with secondhand shopping booming and a myriad of current brands adapting their design aesthetics to accommodate consumer demand, you don’t need a time machine to get the look. Just these 6 items:

1. (Faux) fur trim coat

Between trench coats, ponchos, and puffers, all of the outerwear styles of the 1970’s kept functionality and style in mind.

A very popular outerwear garment from the hippie-chic decade was the knee-length suede coat boasting a large fur collar and cuff sleeves.

Daisy Jones (played by Riley Keough) owned several, as the coat allowed her to bundle up without overpowering what’s underneath.

For a night out, the songstress wore the jacket topped over a bandeau top and jeans, but the style doesn’t only work for evenings.

Daisy also wore the statement outer-layer in the daytime over dresses and shorts.

2. Cowboy boots

Style of the 1970s was generally laidback with men gravitating toward western attire in the form of all-denim looks (à la Graham Dunne played by Will Harrison) or corduroy jackets (seen on Eddie Roundtree played by Josh Whitehouse).

For one of her big performances, Simone donned a suede fringe vest, accessorized with Native American jewelry.

Daisy got in on the look with traditional cowboy boots that she paired with just about everything.

Cowboy boots used to be performance footwear for horse riders, but they have come a long way in the fashion world, and are more popular now than ever.

Looking for heels? No problem! Want a pair with fancy finishings? You got it!

It's been impossible to ignore the wave of western-inspired fashions moving across America thanks to shows like 'Yellowstone' and Daisy Jones and The Six.

The 70s were a time of rebellion.

While Americans were involved in political and cultural movements in the 1960s (civil rights, Kennedy assassination, anti-war protests) in the decade that followed, they focused on personal liberation and rebelling against societal norms.

As mainstream life was rejected, the ‘hippie’ counter culture movement emerged.

Bell bottom pants, frayed jeans, peasant blouses, wallpaper prints and oversized sunglasses were en vogue.

Camila Dunne (played by Camila Morrone) wore very little makeup and her hair styled pin straight; she added ’70s drama to her look with oversized square frames.

To get the look, make oversized round, oval or square frames a part of your everyday ensembles.

4. Crochet garments

The craft of crocheting boomed in the ’70s.

In its heyday women could find anything crocheted — from dresses to hats, hot-pants, and even home decor — in bright colors and bold patterns.

But Daisy and Camila opted for white hand-crafted clothing items, making the trend feel less festival ready and more sophisticated.

Crochet styles are easy to wear, and often crafted from lightweight cotton, making them ideal for keeping you cool.

Plus, they’re open weave gives a peek at what’s underneath.

5. Kaftans and kimonos

Vogue declared the kaftan an essential piece of clothing in 1966 after luxury fashion houses such as Dior and Balenciaga made them a part of their collections.

Spectacular kaftans were a part of Daisy’s Mediterranean-chic look in Greece, while embellished kimonos lent glam rock edge to her on-stage costumes.

No longer a beach coverup, kaftans can add an elegant (not to mention dramatic!) touch to any ensemble, and thanks to their long, loose shape, they are comfortable enough for all-day wear.

6. Wide leg pants

Nothing says 1970’s like a pair of flared jeans or bell bottom pants.

One of the reasons the exaggerated silhouette was so popular was because of the freedom of movement it allowed.

Wide-leg pants featuring a high-waist were a favorite of Daisy’s. She rocked them with peasant tops, tunics and cropped blouses.

Whether you’re looking to channel a disco diva, a keyboard player like Suki Waterhouse (played by Suki Waterhouse) or your inner flower child, wide leg pants are perfect for spring.

Best when worn with platforms!
