Prince and Princess of Wales are joined by Prince George and Princess Charlotte in Windsor

The Prince and Princess of Wales were joined by their three children as they attended the traditional Easter Mattins service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor today.

Kate, 41, looked radiant in a bright blue dress as she walked hand-in-hand with four-year-old Prince Louis, who wore a sharp suit jacket, tie, and powder blue shorts.

The couple’s youngest child was making his very first appearance at the traditional Easter Sunday service – which will surely delight many royal watchers.

The mother-of-three paired her recycled Catherine Walker dress with a custom £825 pill box hat and matching clutch bag, and opted for a pair of pointed, nude heels.

She completed her Easter ensemble with a pair of statement gold, lapis and moonstone earrings, and kept her make-up soft and neutral for the morning service.

However, in a departure from the very well co-ordinated royal blue, Kate had her nails painted a bright red.

Her husband Prince William, 40, wore a classic dark blue suit and pink tie, while Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, seven, wore complimentary colours.

Charlotte was dressed in a navy blue dress and powder blue tights, with a blue bow in her hair, while her older brother matched Louis in a navy suit and tie.

Today’s service marks the first since the death of the Queen last September.

The late monarch did not attend last year’s Easter service due to the mobility issues she was suffering at the time, and she was instead represented by senior royals.

The Wales family were in a group of younger royals at back of the party walking down from Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel on Sunday morning.

That group included the King’s niece Princess Beatrice and her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi, and Mike and Zara Tindall with their two eldest children, Mia and Lena.

The King and Queen Consort – also in royal blue – led the party. Behind them were his brother and sister, Prince Andrew and Princess Anne.

Next in line were the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and their eldest son, James, now the Earl of Wessex. Their student daughter Lady Louise was absent.

Also present in the party was Princess Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, who was walking with Queen Elizabeth’s niece Lady Sarah Chatto and her husband Daniel.

They were followed by a heavily pregnant Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, who are expecting their second child together.

The family group was notably missing the estranged Duke and Duchess of Sussex who have not yet confirmed whether they will even attend the king’s coronation.

Today will no doubt be a bittersweet moment for the Royal Family, as they celebrate yet another family occasion without the Queen.

Sunday also marks the second anniversary of the death of the late monarch’s beloved husband, Prince Philip. He passed away at Windsor Castle on April 9, 2021.

After this morning’s service, it is thought the royals will keep with tradition and gather inside Windsor Castle for the holiday weekend.

It is thought that King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla – who are preparing for their coronation – will join the family, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The Royal Family are expected to enjoy a roast dinner together after gathering at St George’s Chapel, with menu items – such as venison and spring vegetables – sourced from the royal estates.

It is also likely to be a moving moment for the royal family, with the 15th century chapel being the late Queen's final resting place and the Easter Sunday service the first to take place since her death (Zara and Mike Tindall are pictured on Sunday with their family)

But while some traditions will likely be upheld, it’s been reported that now Charles is monarch, he may be hosting a more relaxed event than the late Queen, who was believed to have some strict dinner rules in place.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun that there is one specific dinner rule of the late Queen’s that Charles might choose to relax.

She said: ‘They will all have dinner together but not the young children they will eat in the nursery dining room.

‘The Queen always said until they could hold a knife and fork properly they could not eat at the table, but Charles might have relaxed that rule a bit. But dinner is only for grown-ups.’

Meanwhile, mother-of-three Kate, 41, was reportedly planning to organise an Easter egg hunt for the royal children.

According to Ingrid: ‘Kate is a great organiser and will almost certainly organise an Easter egg hunt – the children can also go to the royal mews and see the horses there and there is an indoor pool for swimming and ponies for them to ride.’
