Snoopy in real life! Pooch with uncanny resemblance to beloved cartoon dog wins legion of fans

A lookalike dog has won thousands of fans on social media – because she bares an uncanny resemblance to a beloved cartoon pooch.

Bayley, a sheepadoodle from the US, has extremely similar markings to Snoopy – a very famous cartoon who originated in the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz.

Though Snoopy is a beagle, and Bayley is an old English sheepdog and miniature poodle mix, the resemblance has been noted countless times on social media, with one person writing: ‘Snoopy – is that you?’

Two-year-old Bayley has the same oblong face as Snoopy, with a white face, muzzle, a round black nose and the cartoon’s characteristic floppy black ears.

The doppelgänger pup has gained over 160,000 followers on Instagram, with her owner posting adorable photographs of Bayley in bunny ears for Easter Sunday.

The original comic strip ran until 2000 when its American creator Charles M. Schulz died at the age of 77.

He had announced that he was retiring and the strip published on February 13 would be his last. Sadly, he died the day before it appeared.

But Snoopy’s popularity has continued nonetheless, with the character regularly appearing on merchandise – and being mentioned in modern TV shows and films.
