Woman, 27, issues warning about giveaway beauty treatments after she was left with ‘botched’ lips
- Jessica Burko’s won a free lip filler treatment
- But hours after her lips swelled and doubled in size
A young woman has shared the embarrassing moment her lips were ‘botched’ after having a free cosmetic treatment done.
Jessica Burko, from Los Angeles, has had beauty procedures and enhancements done several times before and is open about this online.
But on one occasion the 27-year-old’s lips swelled to almost double in size following a treatment she won as a giveaway.
‘I honestly don’t know what went wrong, I had my lips done multiple times,’ Jessica said in a video.
‘This doctor was doing a giveaway. He did everything he was supposed to do. Immediately after he injected me, I looked in the mirror and realised how swollen I was.
‘I thought maybe it was because I hadn’t got my lips done in over a year. But by the time I got to my car, I realised it was not normal.
‘I went back to show him. He prescribed me a steroid, and it just got worse.’
Jessica Burko, from Los Angeles, won a free lip filler treatment and usually gets her lips done once a year
But on this occasion the 27-year-old’s lips swelled to almost double in size following the treatment
Jessica decided to return the the clinic the following day to have the filler dissolved as her lips still wouldn’t go down.
Luckily specialists were able to reverse the damage and her lips quickly went back to normal.
Jessica’s experience acts as a warning about the potential side effects of lip filler and to be careful when it comes to free beauty giveaways.
In a follow-up video she said: ‘It was a free giveaway that I won, it was for Halloween. He certainly had me looking very scary.’
Jessica’s regular lip filler specialist assumed the other professional ‘hit an artery’, which she said ‘makes sense’ because the filler ‘didn’t know where to go’.
‘If your lips look how mine did, you should be concerned. Get them instantly dissolved and go to someone else,’ she said.
Jessica said she’ll ‘never do free giveaways’ again and neither should anyone else.

The video received thousands of views and responses, with many disagreeing with Jessica’s doctor.
‘If the doctor hit an artery, you would have a vascular occlusion,’ one assumed, another added: ‘Your lips would be pale white and you’d be in intense pain.’
‘He did not hit an artery, this was a reaction,’ a third added.
