How a new £45k pre-fab extension can be delivered

Homeowners wanting a state-of-the-art loft conversion can now transform their house in just 14 days after a firm vowed to install them for £45,000.

Typically, loft extensions are laborious and time-consuming tasks but Landmark Lofts claims it can finish the job in two weeks – complete with lighting, heating and a bathroom.

The renovation usually takes up to three months and during winter can prove to make a British home even colder.

But London-based Landmark Lofts gets its lofts ‘custom-built’ in their factory in South Yorkshire instead of making them on site – which reduces the overall building time.

Their unique process begins when the scaffolding is set up around the home and on day two the roof is removed. Just 24 hours the pre-made loft is delivered by HGV and a crane is used to position the unit in its correct place. Some of their models come pre-fitted with tiled bathrooms and can have pre-plastered walls

Once the structure is put in place, staff from Landmark Lofts then install the stairs and made sure the utilities are all connected before signing it off after one last inspection

James Gold, the company’s managing director, told the Evening Standard: ‘Our lofts are custom-built in our South Yorkshire factory. This cuts down the build time to as little as two weeks without compromising on custom and quality.’

The company’s lofts are build will a cold rolled steel frame and they claim the extension should be ready to furnish and carpets can be laid in just 14 days.

It said a loft conversion on a mid-terrace Victorian house can cost between £45,000 and £50,000.
