Spencer Matthews accuses Jamie Laing of ‘serious communication’

‘I wasn’t invited to the wedding’: Spencer Matthews hits back at best pal Jamie Laing after being ‘absolutely hammered’ for ‘snubbing’ his nuptials

Spencer Matthews has accused best friend Jamie Laing of ‘serious communication’ after being accused of ‘snubbing’ the Made In Chelsea star’s recent wedding.

Laing married long-term girlfriend and co-star Sophie Habboo at Chelsea Registry Office on Friday morning, but Matthews, wife Vogue and their children were curiously absent from the ceremony.

Instead Matthews and his family were abroad on a planned holiday, and he has since clarified their reason for missing the service, which will be followed by a second wedding ceremony in Seville on May 19.

Discussing Jamie’s wedding on the Spencer & Vogue Podcast, the TV personality and entrepreneur, 34, admitted he was unhappy with the criticism he had received for not attending.

He said: ‘Sophie looked absolutely magnificent, we were absolutely thrilled for them, but we also did not know it was happening because we were not invited,” Spencer admitted.

‘I’m being absolutely hammered for ‘snubbing’ my best friend’s wedding to go on holiday… I’m not here to b***h about my best friend but there’s been some serious miscommunication from him.’

He added: ‘I just want set the record straight. I’m not here to whinge. I was not invited to this part of Jamie’s wedding, and neither was Vogue.’

Matthews returned from his overseas break to be confronted by an inbox full of messages accusing him of ‘snubbing’ the wedding, some of which he claims were “really mean.”

And he admits he was ‘p***ed off’ to not receive an invite, as he would have ‘flown to Japan’ in order to attend his best friend’s wedding ceremony.

While Matthews missed the ceremony, Laing and Habboo were joined by family and friends at the wedding including the bride’s sister Georgia and mother and father as well as Jamie’s mother and sister.

Their Made In Chelsea co-stars including Melissa Tattam and Gigi & Olive founder Georgie Le Roux were also in attendance.

Sophie’s £3,865 dress for the legal ceremony was from Vivienne Westwood and is called The Mini Cora Cocotte – inspired by the seminal Cocotte shape.

The gown was first created for the 21st birthday of Vivienne’s granddaughter – Cora Corré, as a full length gown.
