British Mother ‘beat the January blues’ by booking a day trip to Lanzarote for £23

I beat the January blues by booking a day trip to Lanzarote for £23 – I packed lunches for my children before I left and was home by midnight

A pair of mothers who got the day off from looking after the children made the most of their free time by booking a day trip to Lanzarote.

British mother Rebecca posted a video on her TikTok account of herself and her sunglass-clad pal towards the end of their whirlwind trip to the canary islands to prove to other mothers that they can make the most of their days off too.

Speaking to her followers from the beach, Rebecca urged them to ‘make it count’ as she explained she and her pal had had a brilliant day after paying for return flights that cost £23 each.

The pair revealed they had spent the day shopping, catching rays on the beach and drinking cocktails.

After the clip was posted online in January, it racked up more than 3 million views – with people joking it was cheaper to fly to Lanzarote and back than to fill up their cars with petrol.

As the waves crashed in the back of the shot and the sun began to set, Rebecca said: ‘Ladies, if you only think you’ve got a day to spare, make it count. You can absolutely do it!

‘We’ve got up at 3.45, we’ve had the best day in Lanzarote. We’ve got about an hour and a half until we’re due back at the airport.

‘We’ve been in the sea, we’ve had three sex on the beach cocktails, we’ve been to Zara – what more do you need?’

As the pair giggled, she added: ‘Book the flight and come!’

In a caption, she added she and her pal had sobered up at Lanzaroted airport by ordering themselves dinner from Burger King.

A mother called Rebecca has revealed how she and her best friend ‘beat the January blues’ by booking return flights to Lanzarote for £23 for the day

In an earlier video, Rebecca revealed she had booked the flight for a bargain price of £23 to ‘beat the January blues’.

She revealed: ‘The packed lunch has been made for the kids on Monday and I’ll be back at midnight.’

After Rebecca posted about her fun-filled day, viewers commented to commend her and her friend for making the most of their time off from the kids.

One person wrote: ‘Can you imagine saying, see you later kids, just popping to Lanzarote – I love it.’

Another said: ‘Walking out the front door like ‘Anyone want anything from lanzarote’?’

An envious mother who had watched the video said: ‘I thought all mums went to Iceland. Didn’t realise Lanzarote was on the cards – I’ve been wasting my life!’

And it seems Rebecca’s advice has caught on, as one woman commented on the video to say she had booked a similar trip.

She wrote: ‘I’ve just booked a 24 hour solo trip to Madrid. It’s cost me £50 for everything.’
