Michelle Obama slams the 2nd Amendment after shooting of teen Ralph Yarl and 20-year-old killed in driveway by homeowner: ‘We’re the only developed country on the planet where citizens have unfettered access to firearms. That is not a good thing’

Former First Lady Michelle Obama slammed the 2nd Amendment during a sit down with host Gayle King on the show ‘CBS Mornings’ on Thursday.
Obama, was also there to promote her new book, ‘The Light We Carry Overcoming in Uncertain Times,’ and share her views on the latest shooting sprees which have rocked the US.
‘We’re the only developed country on the planet where citizens have unfettered access to firearms, ‘ she said. ‘That is not a good thing.’
King agreed and shared her angst telling the former First Lady, ‘I really think these are uncertain times,’ as she spoke about the series of heinous shootings that have taken place in the last few weeks.
On March 27, transgender gun woman Beth Hale stormed into The Covenant School in Nashville, where she killed three children and three adults before being shot dead by police.
And on April 10, Connor Sturgeon, 25, burst into the Old National Bank in Louisville where he worked, killing five before he was shot dead by cops.

Obama, who is also the mother of two adult daughters, told King how crucial it is for Americans, including young people, to vote. ‘More of us have to feel strongly about it particularly our young people this is where democracy comes in,’ she said
King shared her angst telling the former First Lady, ‘I really think these are uncertain times,’ as she spoke about the series of heinous shootings that have taken place in the last week involving young people.
The veteran host then asked, ‘Do you think we can ever reconcile gun violence in this country.’
Obama dressed in a smart bright yellow jacket and black trousers told King that gun violence was a major issue during her husband, former US President Barack Obama’s presidency.
‘I hope and pray that enough becomes enough,’ she said. ‘We wondered that throughout our entire Presidency.’
Obama, who is also the mother of two adult daughters, told King how crucial it is for Americans, including young people, to vote.
‘More of us have to feel strongly about it particularly our young people this is where democracy comes in,’ she said.
‘Voting -all of this stuff – is decided in the ballot box.’
There have been two other horrific shootings which have made national headlines this week.
Twenty-year-old Kaylin Gillis, who shot dead on Saturday night by homeowner Kevin Monahan, 65.
Gillis was passenger in a friend’s car when the driver of the vehicle she was in mistakenly pulled into the driveway of Monahan’s upstate home in Hebron on Saturday night.
Monahan denies murder.
On April 13, Ralph Yarl, a 16-year-old teen, who accidentally went to the wrong address, when he was picking up his twin brothers in Kansas City, Missouri. The suspect, Andrew Lester, 84, opened fire shooting the teen in the head and the arm.
Yarl miraculously survived. Lester also denies the crimes he’s been charged with.
