It would’ve been the late Queen’s 97th birthday today – and royals fans have shared sweet tributes online to mark the milestone.
In 1926, Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II was born in Mayfair, London; she was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and the Queen Mother.
She celebrated her platinum jubilee of 70 years on the throne in 2022, before sadly passing away aged 96 in September that year.
To mark what would’ve been Her late Majesty’s 97th birthday today, royal enthusiasts took to Twitter to share their well wishes and reflect on the Queen’s legacy.

Queen Elizabeth II was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary at 2.40am on April 21 1926.
She was the first child of the then-Duke and Duchess of York, later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
Elizabeth was born by caesarean section at 17 Bruton Street, the Mayfair home of her mother’s parents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore.

She was never expected to be a monarch when she was born, but the abdication of her uncle Edward VIII in 1936 put her father on the throne, and changed her destiny.
She wed Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in 1947, and became Queen at the age of 25 when George VI died from lung cancer in 1952.
Her eldest son, Charles, is now King Charles III. His coronation is taking place in London on May 6.
The Coronation, which is just over two weeks away, will see both King Charles and his wife Queen Consort Camilla crowned in front of 2,000 people in Westminster Abbey.
