Shayk spoke about her career in the fashion industry during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, where she discussed how she learned how to act independently during her first few years as a model.

‘I’ve never really [cared about] people’s opinions, even early in my modeling career,’ she said.

‘When you physically don’t feel beautiful, the solution isn’t running and doing a facial. Something is disconnected from inside, and that’s why you feel like that outside. It took me a while to figure that out,’ she said.

Shayk then expressed that she had grown to value herself more over the years.

‘People ask, “Have you always been that confident?” No, I haven’t. It’s just that I’ve learned to love my imperfections,’ she said.
