‘I can’t believe Louis is five!’ Kate Middleton confesses time is flying during royal visit

The Princess of Wales has confessed she can’t believe her youngest son Louis has turned five – after celebrating his birthday over the weekend.

Kate Middleton, 41, made the admission during a visit to The Baby Bank charity centre in Windsor this morning, where she spoke with volunteers and helped sort newborn clothes.

And it appears the visit left the royal feeling nostalgic, as she told staff at the donations centre that she could not believe her youngest son had already turned five.

It was a sentiment which royal fans had echoed over the weekend, with many saying they couldn’t help but feel ‘old’ – as the time since the young royal’s birth appears to have flown by.

The young schoolboy was all smiles in a new photo posted to Instagram late on the eve of his 5th birthday, where his mother Kate could be seen sweetly pushing him around in a wheelbarrow.

In the snap, the youngest Wales was captured sitting atop a pile of garden cuttings in the garden of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor at their family home.

Royal fans expressed their disbelief at just how quickly the royal has grown up.

One fan commented: ‘Our baby isn’t a baby anymore! Happy 5th Birthday to our Prince Louis! The best not-so-little boy!

Another said: ‘Five!!! Gosh I’m getting old. Wasn’t he born like a month ago?’

A third added: ‘Happy Birthday Louis! Can’t believe boss baby is already five! What a beautiful boy and two stunning pictures.’

And one asked ‘HOW?! Where has the time gone?’

Meanwhile one fan posed a question for an even older Prince Louis: ‘Hands up who thinks in 10 years time, teenage girls all over the world are going to have this face and kid as a pin up!

‘Well, I do! given some oldies are already in love with him.’

And taking it back in time, one said: ‘Hard to believe this is the very same boy we waited to see outside of the Lindo Wing!!! Time flies! Happy birthday, sweet Louis!’

‘Happy Birthday! We have our own Louis who will be two soon. The years go by so fast!’ said another.

The Instagram post has since been liked almost one million times and has racked in under 9000 comments.

The charming family moment was captured by Millie Pilkington, who was previously trusted by Kate and William to privately photograph their wedding reception in 2011.

Prince Louis Arthur Charles was born on April 23, 2018 in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, London and he is the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second son and youngest child.

The prince’s birthday is closely followed by older sister Princess Charlotte’s, who will be celebrating her eight birthday on May 2 – just four days before her grandad, King Charles’s coronation on May 6.

Prince Louis, who is currently fourth in line to the throne, is expected to join his older siblings George, nine, and Charlotte for the carriage procession at the Coronation, while George, the second in line to the throne, is expected to have a role in the service.

It is thought Louis will join working members of the Royal Family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace for an RAF flypast.

The new images follow the release of a picture of the late Queen with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on April 21 on what would have been her 97th birthday, which showed Louis wearing a hand-me-down shirt from George.
