Thrifty mum transforms her daughter’s Kmart cubby house

Over the past few months, thrifty Australian mums have been showing off their impressive Kmart ‘hacks’ on social media.

And now, one stylish mother-of-four has wowed her fans with a beautiful Kmart cubby house transformation.

Kristen Eramiha, from Perth, purchased a $199 cubby house from the September catalogue for her daughter Quinn’s third birthday party.

But instead of leaving it as it was, the fashion and lifestyle blogger and her husband decided to make the space a little more special and give it a café vibe.

‘I remembered back to when I was her age and I had a beautiful play house. I remember playing for hours, making games, using my imagination and I want our daughter to have those same memories.

‘I also took Quinn to visit a friend’s cubby and she just loved it and I knew straight away it would be a hit!’

'We hand painted (to make sure the quality was spot on) the entire cubby. This took three coats and many glasses of wine,' she said

'The planter boxes were filled with beautiful fake flowers (also from Kmart) and then Quinn's café was open for business, brought to life with beautiful wooden signs, stunning florals and beautifully captured by Sarah Fong Photography,' Kristen said

‘It really was a labour of love and her little face as she walked outside and first saw it was so worth all the hours it took to make.’
