Helen Flanagan reveals that she wore her engagement ring on I’m A Celeb to avoid ‘suspicion’

She confirmed that she was single earlier this month after splitting from her fiancé Scott Sinclair last summer.

But as Helen Flanagan is currently hitting screens with a second stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! for it’s South Africa all stars series – she can be seen still wearing the engagement ring that the footballer gave her while in the jungle.

The actress, 32, was gifted the glimmering rock by Scott back in 2018 when he popped the question, and has sparked confusion recently by still wearing it on and off.

But clearing up the reason behind her accessory, she told OK! Magazine that she kept the ring on in the jungle as the break-up was so fresh during the time of filming, with the show pre-recorded.

Not feeling ready to share the news at the time, she explained: ‘We’d only just broken up, and I didn’t want everyone to be asking, “Where’s your ring”.’

Continuing that she hoped to keep chatter on her love life to a minimum around her campmates, Helen explained that it was tough dealing with her split and being on the show,

‘I didn’t want to talk about it… I wanted to keep it private for the kids, I didn’t want to be talking about it on the show. I did find that difficult, because I had all that going on in my head,’ she continued.

Helen has recently been spotted wearing her engagement ring, leading many to believe that she was back on with Scott, after the pair ended their longterm romance.

Beginning to date in 2009, they are parents to three children; Matilda, seven, Delilah, four, and Charlie, two.

And despite the ring causing rumours to circulate, Helen explained to OK! that she is actually just keeping it for her kids’ sakes.

‘My ring’s my ring, it’s for my girls,’ she shared while ruling out any chance of a reconcilliation with her ex.

Helen also confirmed that she is on celebrity dating app Raya following the split, but hasn’t mentioned if she has been on any dates yet.

The former soap star has also been plagued with rumours that she will join dating reality show Celebs Go Dating – but has remained coy on the claims.

I’m A Celebrity South Africa filmed in September, meaning the reality TV stint was still not long after her split from Scott.

But according to claims, Helen was guided by her co-star Carol Vorderman, 62, who has been open in the past about her own five ‘special friends’.

A source told The Sun: ‘Helen was at a crossroads in her relationship when she went into the jungle this time around.

‘Carol became a kind of mother figure to the other campmates and Helen found herself opening up to her. She told Helen to follow her heart and put her children first. She advised that staying with someone just for the kids never works out.’
