The Duke and Duchess of York’s astrology revealed by leading astrologer Patrick Arundell

Prince Andrew is a Pisces, born at 0 degrees in the 8th House.

His Moon is in Scorpio, in the 4th House. A very private combination for sure. His Ascendant is the Regal Leo, at 11 degrees. So we can see that Leo and Capricorn Ascendants are a definite theme for the Royals.

His Sun Moon Mid-Point is 12 degrees Capricorn. In fact, Andrew has a lot of Capricorn planets with Saturn, Mars and Venus, which are Conjunct, all in this sign in the 6th House of work, service and organisation.

Take a look at the Venus and Mars’ Conjunction: Venus is about desire, Mars gratification. Together, they can amplify one another.

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s astrology suggests that they are both people who need to lead, or at least follow their own paths. Their astrological connectivity is strong as friends and parents but not as long-term partners

Andrew is still debarred from life as a front-line Royal following his entanglement with millionaire abuser Jeffrey Epstein (although the prince denies wrong-doing)

The key ingredients in each person’s Natal Birth Chart

The Sun – Energy and Drive

The Moon – Security and Nurture

The Ascendant – Physical Self and how others see us

The Midheaven – Work and Worldly Role

The Sun Moon Mid-point – Our overall Personality

The Venus Mars Mid-Point – Our key way of relating

The big conclusions? Uranus is in the 1st House in Leo. This is someone with a great desire to do what they want, when they want.

The Sun in Pisces in the 8th House is in Opposition with power planet Pluto, in the 2nd. This combination could lead to a preoccupation in all matters financial. It could also produce, potentially, a rather forceful nature.

Sarah is a fair-minded Libra, with her Sun at 21 degrees.

Yet Mars, the planet of drive, initiative and desire, is very close to her Sun. Mars is debilitated, or weakened, in Libra. This means there can be a tendency to rush things, but an enthusiastic mix all the same.

Sarah’s Moon is in Aries, in the 4th House, a lively but very restless combination, suggesting lots of activities around the home and family life.

The Ascendant is in Scorpio at 18 degrees. The Sun Moon Mid-Point is in Capricorn at 13 degrees.

Sarah has Mercury Conjunct Neptune in Scorpio in her 12th House. This is wonderful for the children’s books she writes, conferring great imagination, but this aspect could lead to confusion and uncertain thinking and even absent mindedness at times.

Venus in Virgo is in Fall (not its best location) but does apply to Sarah’s Midheaven. This can point to jobs or roles that require artistic and creative ability and bring popularity, but by being so close to power planet Pluto, there is a strong need for recognition and financial gain.

Uranus, the planet of disruption, innovation and higher truths, Squares Sarah’s Ascendant, suggesting a person with a constantly changing public role or persona, but one others can find intriguing.

Why are Andrew and Sarah seemingly such great friends? Simple, their Sun Moon Mid-Points are exactly Conjunct in Capricorn at 12 and 13 degrees respectively. The result is that they feel very comfortable with one another

Andrew and Sarah’s Relationship

Both Andrew and Sarah have Mars featuring powerfully in their charts. Mars is about action, desire, impulse, ego, restlessness and drive.

This comes from Mars being the traditional ruler of Scorpio (his Moon, her Ascendant, Mercury and Neptune) and the only ruler of Aries (her Moon).

Mars is Exalted (or given extra uplift) in Capricorn (his Mars), but less so in Libra (her Sun and Mars), where it is debilitated, or weakened.

They will certainly need drive – and plenty of it – in the coming months, faced as they are with continuing difficulties.

Andrew is still debarred from life as a front-line Royal following his entanglement with the late millionaire sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein (although the Prince denies wrong-doing in the strongest possible terms).

And now there are said to be financial worries with brother Charles deciding to cut the generous living allowance that Andrew once enjoyed. He might even have to move out of his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge because he can no longer afford the upkeep.

Why are Andrew and Sarah seemingly such great friends? Simple, their Sun Moon Mid-Points are exactly Conjunct in Capricorn at 12 and 13 degrees respectively. Therefore, they feel very comfortable with one another.

The relating part of their two charts is however more complex. Their Venus Mars Mid-Points (romance) align well, but the parts of the two charts where couples need to support and nurture each other, have little planetary support at all.

In fact, Andrew’s chart applied to Sarah’s sees the comment Chiron, which is said to be our inner wound, jointly in their 7th Houses of relating.

This suggests that they are both people who need to lead, or at least follow their own paths. Their astrological connectivity is strong as friends and parents, but not as long-term partners.

Astrology explained by Patrick Arundell:

Western Tropical Astrology

Western Tropical Astrology is based on the Four Seasons – sometimes known as the Cardinal Quadrants. These start with the First Point of Aries on the Vernal Equinox – around the 20th or 21st of March of each year. This is followed by Cancer from the Summer Solstice, Libra from the Autumnal Equinox and Capricorn from the Winter Solstice.

The word Zodiac in Latin is Zodiacus (derived from Greek) and means the “cycle or circle of little animals” starting with the Ram for Aries, Bull for Taurus, and so on.

In Western Tropical Astrology the Constellations above are symbolic. This system does not take into account the Precession of the Equinoxes, though there are other astrological techniques that do.

What is a Birth Chart or Event Chart?

This is the exact moment in time when someone is born or an event takes place.

Because the planets are constantly moving, the make-up of a Birth Chart can change very quickly with every passing second and minute.

The Birth or Event Chart reflects the positions of all the planets, not just the Sun, but also crucially, the location in each of the 12 Houses that each planet is located in.

The combination of all these influences is what gives each of us such unique qualities – even if we are born on the same day or year.

What is a Secondary Progressed Chart?

A Progressed Chart is the evolution of the Natal or Birth Chart which for every year of our life, moves the Natal Chart forwards one day.

So, for example, in King Charles case, who is 75, his Progressed Chart reflects where his Natal Chart had evolved to when he was 75 days old.

This is known as the ‘Day per Year’ system and it is remarkably accurate.

The Secondary Progressed Chart (as it is fully known) is how our inner journey is unfolding, and can see changes in our outlook, approach and interests, though the Natal Birth Chart remains hugely influential around our core potential and responses. The moving planets in the Sky known as Transits can influence Key Natal and Progressed Chart positions but the Progressed Chart can also influence the Natal Chart directly too.
